It was claimed that the inner cable was coated and lubrcated, however I say no visible coating on either end of the cable particularly the end that goes through the backing plate where the cable would be most prone to corrosion.

Well is working but I think it’s little long. It not the same size of the original Toyota Brand.

Doesn’t fit Toyota Tacoma 2nd generation, contrary to what is stated even on the Dorman website. The length is correct and do are both cable ends but this is where the similarities end. In the OEM cable there are metal protectors for each hanger, whereas Dorman has rubber bushings which are not only too small but they got both the number and the placement of year wrong. The heat shield is cheap and at the wrong place by a foot or so. The rubber grommet towards the interior also doesn’t fit.
I ended up returning this and buying the Raybestos brand which looks and works exactly like the OEM part.

This is a review for both the left and right parking brake cables for a 2008 Tacoma. The length was correct but overall the quality of manufacture was lower than the OEM ones I took off. The clamp points are rubber “sliders” as opposed to the fixed metal ones on the original equipment. On the passenger side, the heat shield is minimal in comparison to the original equipment. Both of those things are minimal compared to the fitment of the cables into the tunnel under the cup holder. The Toyota version has a rubber boot that is several inches long, which gives the installer some ability to seat it correctly from the elements. This dorman one has a boot that is maybe an inch long and was difficult to work with. I finally gave up. My truck is 11 years old, so I’m not too worrried about it rusting out. But if I had to do it all over again, I would buy the OEM parts.
