I installed the door, lock actuator and fixed my problem. The door would not lock with remote good product at a reasonable price.

Perfect fit and operation for my 2011 X5

  3. Amazon Customer

Perfect fit. We will see how long it lasts. The holes were not threaded but the metal is soft enough to be done with the screws.

The worst part about replacing the OEM unit was removing it! This replacement has worked perfectly in my 2013 BMW 328i – the only issues were mine – failing to properly seat the “button” bar (be firmer than you think!) and releasing the cable from the old one. That aside it’s really not hard to install and so far it’s been flawless.

Great piece, super easy to install. I saved like 60% off the OEM part. The BMW dealership quoted 150 just to diagnose the problem but I already knew it was the door actuator. They estimated it to be around the 700 dollar range and I was able to solve the problem in around 45 mins with this part and a 10 dollar panel removal set I also got from Amazon. I’d suggest bolting the screws outside because you make the thread yourself. It’s quite easy to make the thread with the older bolts but I figured it would be easier to do it outside. The only problem I had with it was that the tiny plastic thing that holds the wire for the black door lock that sticks outside of the door-pannel broke but I just removed the one on the older actuator and it worked just fine. It was amazing to see my door locking again, I will update in a year or so for longevity of the piece.

This Dorman replacement BMW Door Lock Actuator got the “Amazon Confirmed Fit” when reviewing to ensure I had the correct part, it arrived in 2 days, and I was ready to install…until I read the paperwork that came with the part to indicate it wasn’t the right part for my year vehicle. THAT proved challenging to resolve UNTIL I reached out to Dorman directly via email and had a response within 10 minutes to confirm the part number is correct, but the paperwork insert was incorrect. Mistakes happen, but I sure am impressed by how quickly I could resolve the concern, AND now upon installation, how solid the part is and how well it works.

Passenger door actuator failed on my wife’s 2013 BMW 528I XDrive (F10 Body), leaving us to lock and unlock the door manually. After some research I found this the most likely culprit and after identifying the right replacement for my vehicle, I decided to try this Doorman replacement. While not the cheapest, it was about half of the BMW OEM actuator. Always having good luck with Dorman I was pretty confident. I found three different videos on YouTube that assisted me greatly in the replacement process and over all it took me two hours from start to finish. I would rate the difficulty at 5-6 out of 10. If you have average skills I wouldn’t be afraid of tackling this one. Highly recommended!!

Pain to install but that’s BMW’s fault. This works just like OEM. Very satisfied.
