It was a direct replacemnt for driver side lock acutator for Silverado 2008 LS. I was surprised with one more lock linkage as compared to the passenger door, but it worked fine. The added cost for the Dorman part was worth it, inorder to have to get into the door panel only once.

  2. Lyle

    Install easy and worked great

  3. Unca Don

It fits perfectly and works great so far.

If you own a GM vehicle than chances are all of these have gone bad on your car. All 4 burned out on my 2009 Tahoe due it a cheap 20 cent made in China electric motor inside this lock unit, of course it’s nearly impossible to replace just the bad electric motor, it’s just easier to replace the entire actuator.
It is quite easy to replace this actuator, it’s about a 30 minute job with common tools, there are plenty of videos on You tube outlining the replacement step by step.
This Dorman unit looks identical to the factory unit that was in the car, I trust they put a higher quality electric motor inside.

Update: Purchased 5/5/2015, unit died 4/18/2017(still manually works, power motor inside died…as usual) , it has a lifetime warranty so Amazon is sending a replacement(Thank You Amazon)…we’ll see how long the replacement lasts….The GM ones are even worse on quality, they barely last more than a year and I don’t believe they have a lifetime warranty…I’m beginning to believe this is a bad design by GM.

Be Careful if you have a 2008 Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3 engine.
The connector port on this part is SMALLER than the Chevy connector, It would not fit this item.
In another words, the wire connector on the Chevy is about 1″ long, and this connector is about 5/8″
long. NOT A DIRECT REPLACEMENT PEOPLE!
    Sending it back.

VERY ANGRY AFTER WASTING AN HOUR TAKING THE DANG DOOR APART TO COME UP WITH THIS.

Update: after all that, I looked again at the actuator, and low and behold, it’s a 931-304…..Not the 303
that was on the box. I bought this unit from Amazon Warehouse Deals and it looks like whomever sent
this back to them originally did the ol switch on them and sent back the 304 in the 303 box. The 304 is
for the Passenger side and won’t work with the connector on the drivers side.
So if you order from Amazon Warehouse Deals check the part # ON THE UNIT BEFORE YOU waste over an hour
and get your hands and arms all greasy trying to install the wrong part.

  6. Amazon Customer

Product is excellent replacement, however after about 8 months of use did stop working. Order this product from Tn auto parts! it is covered forever by dorman under the lifetime warranty, replacement from this retailer was simple and arrived next business day.

  7. Amazon Customer

Inexpensive, easy to install and works perfectly. A lot cheaper than having it done at a dealership. Easy step by step instructions on removing the old and installing the new. Took about an hour.

Update*** After speaking with Amazon Customer Support they have agreed to replace the defective product with a new Dorman door lock actuator. As I mentioned below, I have updated my review and increased the rating from 1 star to 4 stars.

I bought this product to replace my factory driver side door lock on my 2007 (new body style) Silverado. The Dorman replacement part that I bought broke within a year. I am going to attempt to see if they will replace the defective part under their warranty. I will update my review if they are willing to replace the Dorman 931-303 Door Lock Actuator. In the meantime, I would not recommend anyone to purchase this product.

Not hard to install. Found a video on line which provided information on door panel removal. Works great. Could not get plastic door latch (the yellow latch) to unlatch without excessive effort and then it did not want to relatch so I took the one off the old unit and used it.

I liked the low cost, however just after three years of use my driver side door is stuck closed and locked. I have tried everything to get it open, to no avail. It has been stuck for two days now. I never thought this could happen until I started searching on how to get it open. It seems that this happens quite often on the Silverado (mine is a 2008). Recommend you replace this part as soon as you notice that is starts to have any type of problems. I guaranty that you do not want to have a stuck door like mine. It is such a headache.
Update: got the lock to open by pressing the open, then close, on the remote control very quickly about a dozen times. Man, was I happy when it opened! I tried everything for several months and was about to get a gas torch to cut it out.
