I had to remove the valve body assembly and this solenoid was a perfect fit for my Forester. It fixed the problem and my car is no longer throwing codes. I just had to get a bi-directional code reader to do the transmission relearn. Well worth the time and money to save $$$

I diagnosed my wife’s subaru with a bad lock up solenoid. The dealer will only sell the entire control module ($2K), not the individual solenoid. The job removing the control module, replacing the solenoid, and putting everything back together isn’t too bad for a reasonably competent shade tree mechanic with some tools and for thousands less. It fits like the original but obviously not as well built as the original it replaced (4 stars vs 5), but is still working four months later (others have stated they can fail after a few months, we’ll see). In the interim I fixed the original solenoid in case this one fails prematurely. Would recommend for someone handy, probably not a job for a beginner.

This product saved me more then you can know. I was being quoted 1400 dollars to repair my CVT transmission on a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek XV. Doing research I came across Dormans video on YouTube about this issue when my transmission wont lock up throwing codes. This product fixed my issues and has been working incredible! Its like a new car! This is not for everyone to install yourself, you will need some general mechanic knowledge and have to be insanely careful. 5 stars!!

Did not solve my issue. The solenoid ohms were in spec when I tested it before install, lasted 1 week. 1 week after install the error code for torque converter solenoid was back. I knew i shouldn’t have wasted my time swapping out the solenoid. Especially with a dorman part. I’m a full time mechanic, and dorman part quality is horrible, but it was the only brand available.

Excellent product! Saved me a lot of money. I love the fix things and save money while doing it is a plus. Put it on a used 2015 Subaru legacy I bought for my daughter with 196k on it. All the lights went away except for the low tire pressure light.

Dorman 926-408 Torque Converter Lock-Up Solenoid Compatible with Select Subaru Models (OE FIX) Sold by: Amazon.com Services, Inc for $54.52 on March 14, 2025.

2014 Subaru Forester 2.5L 118,000 miles P2764 (torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid control circuit low) and P0700 (Transmission control system MIL Request). The so called “lockup solenoid”.

Stealerships charge between one and two grand to fix this or you can fix it yourself for less than $70. You choose.

Took me a few hours, had it done before lunch and I’m 60 years old, first one I ever did. Worked perfect. Put a half quart CVT oil in to make up for the loss of the valve body.

You can splurge and get a gasket for the top cover for $17, turns out I didn’t even need it. And not that it is necessary but you can change the transmission oil for 12 quarts with the filter (through the bottom) get a gasket and a Mityvac MVA6851 (fill through side plug) for less than $300 (oil is $10 a quart or more).

Stealership replaces entire valve body instead of just one lousy $55 solenoid valve. Stealership doesn’t sell just the solenoid.

But they will charge you $12 a piece for the two o-rings or you can get 500 here on amazon for $9 you choose.
    M2.4mm thickness x 12.3mm ID x 17.1mm OD (M2.4×12.3) Viton O-Ring, 75A Durometer.

The TR580 transmission has the transmission valve body up top. The TR580 is used on the “small engine” subaru’s ie the 2.5L non turbo.

Plenty of videos out there showing how to do it. It’s the solenoid on the end near the ground wire.

Replacing the whole valve body for one solenoid is like buying a new car for a flat tire. Thanks to Dorman and Amazon for stocking this part.

Got this as a hope to fix the dreaded P2764 on my 2014 Legacy 2.5L at 150k miles. 10k later it is still working perfectly so I think I got a good one. Install is easy enough if you’re mechanically savvy. Got the transmission serviced at the dealership right afterwards to recalibrate everything and make sure the fluid is at the right level. Saved me $2300.

    worked flawlessly. saved me $3k
