After one year of use I again found myself at the mercy of a unmanageable leadframe which was completely un-reliable and dangerous on many occasions. Vehicle would often not shift above 2nd gear after stopping at signal lights or not downshift when braking which made it diffucilt to drive especially when braking on a downhill road often causing me to overshoot and take the turn wide while risking locking up vehicle and losing control
Also would stay in 5th or 6th no matter what I did often after stopping at a light which made me operate vehicle in a unhealthy manner to avoid holding up other vehicles in traffic. Needless to say I ultimately blame ford. But was unhappy to have to change it out for a second time after only a year.

I get it… we’re all tired of dealing with defective parts. I was hoping that this Dorman part would at least equal if not outlast the original faulty part.

Unfortunately, after replacing the defective OEM Lead Frame with this part, my truck began spitting out DTC’s related to the Transmission Range Sensor (P1702, P0707, P0706). One year after it was installed, my truck went into TCM limp mode intermittently, refused to start, all due to this part.

Do whatever you can to get the real Ford part (Motorcraft#: al3z-7g276-d). As infuriating as it is that the OEM part failed, even the failed OEM lasted ~12 years, the Dorman couldn’t even make it past the 12 month mark.

If you’re looking to spend money on a stop-gap that will get you back on the road, excellent, that’s exactly what you’ll get. If you’re looking for a long term solution, keep on truckin.

The first one I ordered it was defective the range sensor didn’t work which caused the truck not to start then I ordered another and it’s been weeks in warm and freezing weather hasn’t given a hiccup since . So anyone thinking you need ford oem you don’t have to .

Almost a year in and no issues! With enough research it was easy to swap out. Lots of great videos out there. I made notes for torque specs, and a diagram for which bolts to remove. So far excellent for the money it saved me doing it myself.

Did not work in my 2013 3.5 EcoBoost after only 20 mile. It set off almost every engine related code. No shift no speedometer no abs no traction control no tachometer- thought I destroyed the transmission. Took to Ford replaced w Motorcraft part did full transmission flush and they cleared / reset adaptive learning. Transmission works better than before but what a huge waste of time and money. Only went aftermarket because OEM had 4 day lead time and didn’t have ability to go without truck.

I recently bought a F150, after getting it home the motor locked up and i recently got it running again. Ive had this truck for less than 100 miles, and within 3 test drives this transmission problem appeared. My truck was still within mileage but out of time for a recall that lasted only a couple of months, 19n01. I brought it to the dealership, already knowing the problem, and instead of directly referencing the exact same problem to the recall they charged me a 1hr diagnosis fee, along with “shop supplies” fee. I contacted Ford directly and they absolutely denied a goodwill…mind you i still have owned this truck for less than 100 miles. So after some time of back and forth i just said screw it ill do it myself.
This replacement part seems to be of quality. Everything was straightforward and easy. After the repair my truck ran as designed again, no more shifting concerns, no more dropping gears. Ive seen a lot of negative reviews on here but heres to hoping this part will last awhile. Part was replaced by ASE certified technician.

My transmission started to slip and then go into limp mode. was quoted $1800 to fix the issue. after doing research i found that this part has a tendency to fail so i ordered this replacement and fixed my transmission at a fraction of the cost of a repair shop

  8. Anthony Vandermale

Put one in my 2012 F 150 about 11 months ago, no problem’s since then. Best option other than OEM.

  9. Markus S.

Ordered this one, because the Motorcraft/Continental part wasn’t available some month ago, and it came defective from the factory.
Installing it made the the car absolutely undrivable and so I had to do the whole procedure again.

Do yourself a favor and get the OEM part from the get go!

  10. Drive N Buy, Inc.

Immediately fixed my transmission issue. My 2011 F150 would not start due to the grear position sensor in the lead frame not reading. A couple hours of labor and back on the road.
