Ford should have used this in the first place! Way better then OEM!

Solid cast steel, I replaced the oem aluminum ones twice in 10 years on both sides! I’m expecting these to outlast the vehicle.

This is the steel upgraded version. Not the aluminum ones that break… the whole reason why i ordered these ones instead.
They are higher quality and fit perfect. Comes with new nuts that are a size larger, very nice.

I replace a broken mount a year ago with a Dorman Aluminum one after the factory one broke. A year later the replacement broke in the same way. It’s a horrible design by Mazda/Ford that puts way too much stress on THIN tabs made out of crap Aluminum. This one is steel and seems about 100x more robust than the pot metal ones. Put it in a year ago and no issues. If the other side fails I’ll get another one of these.

What a pain this problem is.
I hit a pothole last Friday night going for a takeout pizza, and the right rear cast aluminum shock mount snapped on my 2010 Mazda 3- just shy of 156K miles. This happened for the first time back in July 2018 at about 105K miles and 200 miles from home!
It makes a bunch of noise. When I hit the bump my first thought was the noise was a rock, ice chip or branch rattling and that it would go away.
I found this steel version from Dorman. I’ve had excellent luck with their products.
Make sure you have a good floor jack to raise the rear from the suspension sub frame assembly. Place the jack stands on the rear jack points for the emergency vehicle jack per owner’s manual.
You can watch a 1Aauto video on YouTube to get the juices going. Have a good ratchet, 12mm, 13mm, 17mm sockets, 13 mm combination wrench, torque wrench, vise grips, socket extensions, air impact gun helps, air impact ratchet helps, penetrating oil like WD-40, cold chisel and hammer for debris left from old one, and work lights.

The quality, oh my god is so much better than factory! Factory mounts are aluminum. Over time, aluminum breaks.
Mine broke. Driver side rear.
These, are steel.
These, should last forever.
These are literally OEM, and these fix the aluminum ones that break.
Aluminum vs steel..what is better?
Steel of course.
They Fit perfectly. They fit just like the oem. Easy to install.
I ended up buying two, both for the rears. (Driver side and passenger rear)
Since driver side rear factory one broke, I replaced it with this oem steel one, and decided to do both sides, since it was only a matter of time till the other one broke.
Now I don’t need to worry.
However, since these are steel, and not aluminum like the ones that manufacturers send cars out with, they are more expensive.
That’s the only downfall- price.
However, knowing that I won’t need to worry about them breaking in the future, ultimately saves you money in the long run.
Also, since your replacing the mounts, replace the shocks while your at it. Super easy. Much smoother ride.
Installed on a 2012 Ford Focus Sel (hatchback)

Whish Ford would have thought of this!

Better than factory original which broke after light bump, this one is steel so won’t break as easy and better hardware. Easy swap with impact gun.
Sam –
Replaced both rear broken aluminum shock mounts on my Mazda 5 2012. With these sturdy steel ones I’m ready to rip it
Nathan Joly –
Used this as an upgrade for my broken Focus ST mounts the broke. Dampens a little different but not bad. A definite buy for anyone needing a new one. Don’t buy another cast aluminum one and wait for it to break.
