rlynne –
Bought this part, for a 07 Rav4, to replace an toyota original part.
After replacing the CEL still came on and the car continued with thw same problem (starting when it wanted, stall anywhere at any time). This part looked much like the original but it dint work.
Initially, it went into the location very smoothly which felt like thats what should happen. But, the original part was tough to get out, had to pry out with screwdriver.
Replaced this dorman part with one from Advanced Auto Parts.
Carquest Premium Crankshaft Sensor -CSC1121
This cost me $45 more, but i rather pay more for a job done once, right, and without the “hoping for the best”.
This part worked. Looks a little different from the original. Even with the oil smeared around the seal and the metal, I had to pry this onto its location with a screwdriver (used as leverage). It wasn’t just push with your fingers.
In the end, even though i never heard of this advanced autoparts brand it worked prefectly. I usually use Denso parts but it wasn’t readily available.
So, if you have the same vehicle, save yourself the trouble.
