1999 Honda CRV, Check engine light came on with code P0122 which is throttle position sensor. The car was stalling a bit at idle and when you first take off. Checked old sensor, which was bad, with paper clip and multimeter method from youtube. Dealer wanted to sell complete throttle body which is over $400. Bought this sensor from Amazon and it looks very much like the old one. Comes with new fasteners, washers and instructions on how to set voltage. Put this on and it works like a charm. Used same paperclip and multimeter method to adjust per instructions. Good throttle response and the check engine light is no longer on. Used small chisel and hammer method on outside washer to remove bolts without removing throttle body. Top bolt is easy but bottom you can use a mirror against the firewall and some patience to remove the bottom one.

Es de exelente calidad pero si puedes mejor compra el cuerpo de aceleración completo ya que es muy engorroso su instalación y más la calibración,por algo honda no vende por separado este sensor y solo lo trae junto a todo el cuerpo de aceleración

Installed on a 2003 Honda Odyssey EX
With 170K miles, throttle response and transmission shifts had become very sluggish on our Odyssey. Many of us early-2000 model year Odyssey owners are very conscientious of Honda’s transmission problems, so I have especially paid much attention to our van’s shift quality as it ages. Combined with occasional slow starts where the van didn’t want to fire up right away as usual, I suspected the TPS needed replacement as suggested by other owners at Odyclub.com. I chose the Dorman TPS since it is a very reputable U.S. company that specializes in automotive aftermarket parts-the same that most mechanics use at car dealerships & independent shops.
Installation is as noted by others here….I used Dremel’s cut off wheel Dremel 409 Cut-off Wheels .025″ thick, 36 Pack to make a screwdriver notch to remove the old TPS screws (BTW, what in the world were Honda engineers thinking by attempting to make this item unserviceable?). I used paperclips to back-probe the new TPS to adjust the final voltage settings per the installation instructions—connect your voltmeter to the paperclips and rotate the TPS to get your final setting. I had an installation question and Dorman has live service chat on their site. A very appreciated feature from Dorman for all us shade tree DIY’ers. This is one of the easiest service items I’ve done on our Odyssey.
On the test drive after installation I noticed IMMEDIATE improvement. Upshifts seem to be much smoother and the van doesn’t hunt for the correct gear when it’s under load. The van also seems to run much smoother–makes sense since the old TPS was most likely sending inaccurate voltage to the CPU. Time will most likely prove this new TPS also solves the occasional hard starting issue. I plan on making this a service item every 75-100K miles. Why wait for the progressive decline of engine & transmission performance from a $25 item that is super easy to replace (especially since Honda’s ingenious break-away screws are no longer part of the picture?) 😉
The true test came when my wife tried the van. When she said “It feels like new again!”, buying this Dorman TPS made me a very ‘Happy Dad’.

This TPS appeared to be working fine, the Check Engine Light did not come on, however, after much troubleshooting and hundreds of dollars later, this TPS was found to be the culprit. The signal it generates has flat spots and so the car would stumble, appear to be misfiring. I have calibrated many TPS in my day and made the false assumption that a new sensor couldn’t possibly be my problem. But I was wrong. Now I am stuck with this faulty sensor because 30 days have elapsed since I purchased it.

This throttle position sensor is the perfect replacement for the failing original on a 2002 Honda Odyssey.
The original TPS no longer had a smooth (linear) response. Instead it has some dropouts. This new part tested well with a meter and has restored my vehicle’s smooth running and acceleration. This solved the P0122 error code.
The hardest part was removing the old screws. The factory removes the screw heads after installation, so there is no way way to remove them. I used a hack saw to cut a groove on each one so I could get a flat head screwdriver to turn them.
My Odyssey has the TPS in an easily accessible spot. I did not have to remove the entire throttle body.

I bought a no name brand & it went bad in less than a year. I got this & it’s working great. The throttle response is great. The slots fot the bolts are a little tight & you may have a hard time trying to adjust it, so you may have to open the slots a little.
