This GM part went bad in my Silverado with just 35K miles. This Dorman replacement looks almost identical to the original GM part but the metal sensor tabs and contact board (which is what goes bad) look to be of better construction than the factory part. I have read stories of people replacing this part 2-3 times over the life of the GM vehicle. So far, 2K miles and this Dorman part is working as it should and at half the cost of the AC Delco part which is probably the same part just packaged for GM. NOTE: You will need to purchase a special tool to remove the compression ring that holds the fuel sending unit in the tank, it can not be removed with normal hand tools!

This item was faulty from the start. Upon inspection, it was visibly loose fitting. Once installed, it would only work intermittently, and STILL cause an error. It’s a piece of garbage. Don’t waste your money. Buy an OEM from NAPA. It’s $88.

Easy install once the sender is out of the tank. Exact replacement. Beats dealer price by a lot .

When I first hooked it up it went to 1/2 wich was correct for how much fuel was in the tank. After a few days of driving the gauge never moved. I filled the tank up and gauge still registered 1/2 tank another few days then it pegged out the guage at full mark where it has been stuck ever since. I had the dealer do a guage sweep test to make sure the stepper motors were working correctly and diagnosed the problem being faulty fuel level sender unit……

Removal of old sensor is a bit tricky, but pull clip and push down firmly it will slide off downwards. Careful! Good quality, so far so good.

My fuel gauge was in and out of working faze and eventually nothing. Dropped the tank and my old sending unit was floating. Turns out someone else already tried to fix it cause it was ziptied. Prefect replacement…. *Comes with extra gasket and the leveling float+arm.

Fits and works just like the OEM.

Perfect fit in my 2007 Silverado 1500 classic. Works like a champ but it’s only been a couple of weeks. If something happens I’ll be sure to update my review
