Had to machine the inside bore 0.05 larger to fit my Mercedes NOX sensor. The inside threads needed to be filed @ several locations due to machining burrs, nut/thread from NOX sensor very hard to thread in..

Bought this for a Mercedes ML320. It’s a chunk of metal, kind of hard for them to screw up… yet I had to run a M20x1.5 tap through it to open up the threads a bit before the NOx sensor fit right. Lucky I was at my friend’s machine shop and he had a tap on hand… Mind you, this was before I welded it in place, so it wasn’t deformed by the heat.

Maybe the one I got was just the last one made on the cutting tool or tap that was getting worn out? Not sure. The threads were M20x1.5, just a bit out of tolerance. Then again, if you’re going to be working on diesels regularly, it would pay to buy a tap to clean up threads in existing bungs and also a thread die to clean up NOx sensor threads.

Nice repair piece. Saved me from having to replace a complete diesel exhaust converter after a rotted Nox sensor broke off in the pipe. Does require welding
