First it was the right rear door that stopped unlocking with the remote. I lived with it. Then the front passenger door did the same thing. Alas, I had no choice in the matter now; time to break things – oh I meant fix things.
I did the back door first and things went very well. Took me maybe 30 minutes total. I worked slowly because I had little idea of what I was doing and I am slow. Makes sense, right? The part fit and worked great and I celebrated by spiking the old part.
The front door was a different story. Things are tight and I needed a small mirror to help with the project. The part was a precise fit. The front replacement took a while. I left a tool in the door and remembered that it was there too late. I had to reopen her to remove the object. You should be happy I am not your surgeon.
A tip for you MDX owners. On the front door, remove the small speaker at the door frame by pulling on it. It is held in place by three clips. Another tip for you. Remove the cover on the large speaker in the door by gently pulling on it. There are six gold screws around the speaker. Remove them and gently remove the speaker before pulling on the door panel. Trust me. I may have or may not have ripped the door apart causing slight inconsequential damage requiring the use of glue.
This part is a perfect fit. I can use my remote. I am happy. I celebrated by avoiding yard work.
Thank you Dorman.

1999 Accord Sedan replacement part; Passenger side, FRONT door. Watch the actuator removal video by 1aauto on youtube. Its good, shows the drivers’ side but it is probably the same as the passenger side save for a few connectors for window buttons.
My additions for instructions: Remove the white plastic cover that is somewhat over the actuator. There is a plastic button that the door lock knob black sheeth connects to that is on this plastic cover. Single screw holds the plastic cover, also remove the black sheeth hooked over the button as well. You will understand when you see it inside the door. Now remove the 2 or 3 small screws on the “L” of the actuator. My 1999 only had two but there is a spot for a third so maybe mine never had it. You can leave the 2 large screws on until you completely remove the actuator – it simply holds a bracket/cover of sorts on its backside.
When installing the new actuator, ensure you engage the white movable arm on the actuator onto the pin where the actuator sits inside the door. Again, once you remove the old one, you will see what I am talking about. It wasn’t until I removed the white plastic cover I mentioned earlier, that it was obvious how to connect it back up. Use a small mirror and flashlight for more angles and its pretty obvious.
This job took over an hour, just being careful, getting sticky from the door dust cover sealant and using a mirror and screwdriver to remove and install some of the screws (dropping screws, fishing them out of the door). Headlamp helped a bit too. Job is totally doable. That was the third actuator I replaced on our Accord and now it is happy. 🙂

Replaced my original actuators, 3 out of 4. All work as expected and fit perfectly as the original ones.

This fixed my passenger’s door lock not working properly. I had to manually unlock the door from the inside as the power locks would not quite do it – it looked like it could almost do it, but not enough to allow the door to be opened. This didn’t take as long as other lock actuators I have replaced on other vehicles in the past, but you will want to find a good YouTube video showing the process. There is one part where I was working mostly by feel due to limited visibility into the work area. Definitely worth the effort compared to having a dealership do the work.

My wife’s 2000 Acura 3.2 TL has been working great since we got it back in 2006. The passenger side front door started having problems with the actuator in 2010 and it went completely out not long after. The rear door actuator went out about a year ago. I have asked different dealers and garages about the prices to get them fixed but the price was always around 150 per a door. They all pretty much told me that the actuators need to be replaced. I finally got one of this actuator by the end of 2015 and replaced the rear door. It took me about just over a hour to get the work done and the door lock worked after 5-6 years since it broke! I bought another one right away and replaced it for the front door. My wife is very happy being able to use her remote to lock/unlock the doors!
