The regulator works great so far. The hardest part of the job turned out to be removing the panel. You are better off with some trim removal tools, and go slow. While removing the old regulator, be careful when you are on the last screw on the left. The whole thing will snap close like a scissor – obviously you don’t want to have a finger in the way when that happens. It also helps a lot if you can detach the controller from the door panel. You will need it connected multiple times. Lastly, when you are reinstalling the glass, make sure that the left edge would go up the correct channel (outermost). The plastic tabs at the bottom of the window glass should sit in front of the bolt holes on the regulator, and then the bolts will go in.

I purchased a front driver and rear passenger regulator for my 2002 Corolla both doorman from Amazon. The parts are NOT identical to the stock regulators, they are a bit different. That being said, they were very easy to install, even with my very limited mechanical skills. I think a big part of that is the legendary ease of working on Toyotas, but still. All you need is a flathead, Philips head, a 10mm ratchet, and a ratchet extension. I will update if I ever have any issues in the future, but as I write this 20 mins after I finished the 2 hour install, I am very satisfied. (I am leaving this review on both products)

Exactly like the picture. Perfectly fit on Toyota 2000 Corolla.
Fast delivery . Item was brand new and as same as the picture. It fit perfectly on Toyota 2000 Corolla. Removed old one and installed new one about two hours for a novice like me. A little trick is using the nut first, then far right top bolt, far left bottom bolt. It was very easy to align all the 6 bolts ( not 7 bolts because one of the bolt is for mounting auto lock assembly and please do not remove this bolt from beginning)
New assembly already has enough grease on it and it move up down smoothly like on new car. Dorman is making this part (Made In Taiwan) where all Denso motor from Toyota coming from too. This regulator assembly is worth every penny compare with the one only 1/2 price but quality in question on Flea Bay. Highly recommended.

Both the drivers and passenger side windows on my 1999 Toyota Corolla stop working. After finding out how expensive the dealer wanted to change out the motors I started searching on Amazon just to see if I could find a cheaper solution. I was surprised to find out that I could buys these Dorman replacements for $55 each. After reading some of the reviews about the holes not lining up I was a little hesitant but said what heck let’s give it a try. With a screw driver, panel popper, 1/4” drive ratchet and 10 mm socket I was able to change them out in about 35 min for each door. They work perfectly and just as good as the factory ones I took out. If you first start with the male stud By the new motor (just put it on loose), then start one of the 10mm bolts on the far right, you can move the arm so that all the holes match up. Easy job to do.

Always have good luck with Dorman parts

Changing out the old piece of equipment with the new one was a breeze! It took 45 minutes and a single beer. Great videos on YouTube for a play by play if needed. Instructions that came with are helpful if you know what you are doing prior to starting. Basic hand tools with a small socket set is all that I needed to complete this. My local Toyota dealership in Alberta, Canada quoted me just over $1000.00 plus tax to complete this job and could not guarantee when the parts would arrive. I received mine in 7 business days!

I ordered this part, knowing what I wanted & didn’t read the review by the other person who bought this. What I got was something that didn’t look like what was pictured. I thought I was shipped the wrong part & sent it back to Amazon. They took it back no questions asked & shipped out a new one, one day delivery. I got exactly the same part as before. Ticked off, I went to my local auto parts dealer to buy a Dorman 741-801 at almost twice the cost. The one at the auto parts dealer was exactly like the two I received. The lower arm was much shorter and not connected to the spring as shown it the picture at Amazon. It also had two threaded bolts connected to the lower arm, which is not pictured & was not on the part I was replacing. To add to the confusion, the store clerk also had the same picture as the Amazon site. He said there is a way to connect the arm to the spring & it will look like the picture. But there is no possible way to do this, since the arm was about half as long as pictured & there were no nuts. Are you confused now? I didn’t buy the part at the auto parts store & went home to contact Dorman. On there internet site is the same picture of the 741-801 as Amazon & the parts store. When I called, I was told that they have TWO parts from different vendors with the SAME part number 741-801. Are you kidding me??? I asked why they don’t update the photos so people know what they are getting. I was told that they can’t because they still carry and sell both parts and it would be confusing, one way or the other. How about giving one a different stock number or add pictures and tell people they may get one type or the other, but both will work? Both the ones received from Amazon & the one from the auto parts store did not come with the metric nuts needed to secure the regulator. I believe they are 6-1 metric nuts that you can get at Home Depot.
Since I now knew I had regulator that would fit my Corolla and since I had already pulled apart my car door already once before, it took a little over an hour to complete the job. Dorman always had a good reputation, but I wonder if they are slipping. While at Amazon to review this, I noticed that Amazon is carrying a similar regulator that looks like the same style as I received. It’s a VDO WL 44060 with a motor and costs a little cheaper. Even after all this, it much better than having it done at a repair shop for $400.00-$600.00.
Thanks Amazon, you came through again. Sorry I thought you sent me the wrong part! Five stars to you folks!
