Good kit for my 2002 cvpi,my window would stop working and you would have to slam the door while pressing the button to get it to work so I replaced it with this and now it works great.I broke my glass tightening the bolts and I mean just snugging them with a small ratchet broke it, so make sure to only handtighten them with locktite to ensure they won’t back off or use lock nuts.Other than that this kit fit perfect and works butter smooth.The cons to this product is that the part had no protection other than a plastic bag in the box so my instruction sheet had been ripped down the middle but luckily it wasn’t dropped or anything by the delivery driver because it probably would of been damaged if it had.

Yet another quality Dorman product…. I used it to replace my ailing passenger window regulator and now that I have done two already, installation was a breeze. Just use a punch to remove the rivet centers, drill rivets out with a 1/4″ bit, etc. and the new one goes in as easily. Just make sure you leave all the “rail” hardware loose (as in hand-tight) until you can run the window all the way up and down the track a few times so it can be properly reseated without binding on any part of the weather stripping.
If it happens to come with nuts & bolts, be advised that you may need to get your own 1/2″ long version of what they include (might be a 1/4″-20 but my recollection is fuzzy since it’s been a while). The bolt that goes in to the hole that is closest to the tab doesn’t have a whole lot of clearance. Also, you will probably need a matching nut since the supplied nuts generally are wider on one side than the other (flared-out) and are too wide to fit in such a tight space. Your other option would be to grab a pair of vise grips and work off the excess with a bench grinder, but I don’t advise anyone to do that because heat accelerates oxidation (rust) and for what a stainless steel nut costs at the local hardware store, it’s not worth the hassle you will encounter down the road to save a few cents.
If I had easy access to a 1/4″ rivet tool and comparable 1/4″ rivets, I would have installed the regulator using rivets instead but Crown Vic and Grand Marquis vehicles are really easy to work on, so anyone with reasonable mechanical intuition can install this.
The right-rear is the only OE regulator left in my car. I’ve replaced the left-rear, driver, and now the passenger regulators so far.

pros; this is the second window regulator assembly I bought after the first one from another manufacturer wouldn’t lift the window all the way up. this one does the job well and has a larger motor like the original OEM part.
cons; original regulator is attached with seven rivets. This regulator has five replacement rivets included. These are large rivets that won’t fit the rivet guns you already own so you’ll have to buy your own new rivet gun. Since it’s rivets, it’s a two person job. It takes two hands to squeeze a rivet gun, third hand to hold the product against the door and the fourth hand to hold the rivet gun against the door. Then you have to drive to the hardware store to buy two bolts to attach the regulator to the window since they’re not included with the hardware. While you’re there, you should buy two more rivets for the bracket you have to take off for the door handle strap.
Installation would’ve been far easier had it included bolts instead of rivets like other manufacturers do.
Unlikely that I will go with Dorman for next part i purchase.

This product was an exact replacement fit for our 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis. We installed with bolts and lock nuts, using the parts list from Dorman, and the process was straight forward. New regulator and motor work great. Item arrived quickly which was appreciated.

I purchased this to fix the power window on my 2004 Crown Vic (Base Civilian model, P73), and it fit perfectly.
I had some trouble removing the original rivets using a punch and hammer, but I got it done. Installation was straight forward enough using 1/4-20 bolts, plastic insert locking nuts, and flat washers rather than the rivets provided. The kit also provides replacement plastic inserts where the screws that hold the door inside panel on go into the door. (I did not use them). Online videos were more helpful than the general instructions included.
My initial impression is that the Dorman regulator/motor assembly is a good value, only time will tell for sure.
Note: I consider myself to be an above average DYI mechanic, and general fix it person. I have maintained and repaired my own cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, lawn care equipment etc. for over forty years. I also have an assortment of tools.

There is a bolt you have to access to install this. They put the bar in the exact position so you can install the bolt properly, they actually had someone who knew what they were doing design this.
