My front window mechanism broke during the summer 2 years ago, mechanics wanted slot of money to fix. At the time my truck was pushing almost 20 yrs old. I thought I might be able to do this myself after watching some videos. This item looked just like the original item. Easy to install, I did put 1 piece on backwards so I HD to fix that. After that worked good ,nice and smooth and quiet
And about 3 months after I did the driver s side window. He passenger window in the back door broke

It finally warmed up enough for me to install this window motor and regulator for my 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab pick up. I am absolutely
thrilled that I now have a drivers door window that is operational. This product works exactly as it should and it is well worth every penny that
I paid for it. If, need be, I am in the need to make this purchase all over again, I would absolutely buy this product again. The Auto button on
the window switch works great and the window goes up and down, the way it should. This item is perfect in every way. Very pleased with this
item and very happy that I made this purchase. For anyone needing a replacement motor and regulator for a vehicle such as mine, this is
the item to go with. There is no need to have to fool around with connecting the cables from the motor to the regulator. They are already

Was surprised how easy it was to install, fit perfectly, and works perfectly.
I don’t know about the longevity about it as it has only been installed for about a week and in summer season.
We’ll see how long it lasts in the winter. The price was right, about 5 times cheaper than my local auto parts store but doorman, I believe is a pretty good product.
We’ll see about longevity.

Edited on 7/6/13. Original review – Replace OEM Regulator on a 2004 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab Drivers Side Front. Easy to install and working flawlessly for the past six months (11/2012-4/2013) with limited use. Edit – I only drive the truck on weekends and from 11/2012 to 3/2013 it was winter and the window was rarely used. White plastic piece broken by May 2013, same problem as OEM just that the OEM lasted 8 years. I decided to run the end of the cable (broken plastic end, side that raises window) through a hole in the bracket that the window mounts in, closest to where the plastic piece was and put a cable stop on it. Wrapped the two cables back around the grooved wheel in proper direction etc., compressed springs and reinserted grooved wheel, and reattached to motor. Sounds confusing but if you have had these apart it probably makes sense to you. Installed and currently working great. Not sure how long it will hold up but I know the plastic won’t break on that side again. Dealer wanted $199 for an OEM and they were back ordered until end of August 2013. Shocking big demand for the part.
I would not buy this part again, mainly because I contacted the Vendor who sold it(email through Amazon) and Dorman (emailed manufacturer from their own website), neither one of them returned my email. I did get the generic email that says someone will get back to you regarding your inquiry with two business days, joke. In the future if I have an OEM one break I will try a similar fix if it holds. If it doesn’t I will shell out the ridiculous $199 to the dealer and put it in myself.

My 2002 Dakota’s driver’s side window regulator breaks the plastic wheel every couple of years – design and manufacturing defect they never corrected. This is the fourth or fifth time I’ve replaced it, so removal and installation does not take that long.as i have practice doing it. The Dorman product is much better than OEM and tends to last longer before the plastic wheel breaks down and fragments. Sturdiness is mid-range as I know I’ll have to replace it again in a couple of years.

I purchased this as an OPENED BOX or used like new item. I was concerned it may not have come with everything I needed when I ordered it. This was sold as used like new opened box, but fortunately all the required parts came, and were shipped early. I did a little research ahead of time to see how to properly install it, so that helped as well. This was also packaged well enough to protect both the motor and the assembly. Very happy with purchase.

My only negative comment is the statement that the Dorman design had addressed the weakness of the OEM design. However, this is the second Dorman unit I have installed in this location on this vehicle. The failure of the first replacement was in the same manner as the original unit. It is an easy install and does a great job for the money.
