Overall, this was a good replacement product for my worn out factory window regulator. This particular part was sort of a pain for me to change out due to the tight space and limited access to the pin and sleeve that connect the regulator to the window; however, this is not the fault of this product, just Ford’s design. Once installed my window worked great. I can’t speak about longevity as I have only had it installed for a month and am in the process of selling my Focus. One thing that would have made this product better would be to include the plastic pin and sleeve that I spoke of above. These parts are extremely easy to damage when removing the old regulator and a fresh set would have been better to use than the slightly mangled pieces I had left over after pounding them out of the old regulator. I remeber reading somewhere that the electrical connnection did not work for some, but I am sure this is becase it is a little stiff to plug in. I used a flathead screwdriver to depress the tab and it still took some force to get regulator to plug all the way in. Again, I don’t fault this product as much as it was just a Ford design for their electrical connection design.

I was a ford tech for 10 years and should have known better but I ordered this pos. The regulator was fine, but the motor connector was misbuilt and would not fully seat onto the harness. I had to swap the motor from my failed regulator to get this damn thing to work. Worth 30 not 70 buck.

This piece not only installed flawlessly but also works great. After getting the little button out of the original that holds the class to the sliding plastic piece (it was a bare to remove) the installation of the regulator was really easy.
Remove the old regulator, mount the new on using the exact same hardware and plug it in using the same connector. Doesnt get any easier to be honest. Great product from Dorman and thank you Amazon for providing this piece for around a 40% discount from my local auto parts stores.

There are several 5 star ratings, and several one star ratings for this product. The one star ratings come from people saying the motor didn’t work.
I though I was in the same boat with the 1 star people: the motor wasn’t running. I thought, “Just great, now I will have to switch out the motors.” But the real problem was an extraordinarily difficult connection between the power supply from the car and the new motor. To get the power connector plugged into the new regulator I literally ha to use clamps to squeeze the two parts together (unlike the original regulator which you just can snap in). And SNAP, I crammed them together. And the motor ran. And the power window is fixed.

Replaced a window regulator that is tangled and otherwise useless with this. Perfect fit, form and function and at a great price. Would highly recommend.

Worked just like factory part with one exception. Unfortunately the plastic pin that actually holds the window in place was not included. This is a one cent piece of plastic and I have no idea why it was not included. The missing part consists of two plastic cylinders that go through the bracket and the window. I still had the original outer cylinder, but I lost inner one (which is just used to expand the outer one so it fits tightly). I came up with a substitute that worked, but what a needless hassle. Make sure you keep the original pins from the regulator being removed and don’t loose or break them.

Oh NO! My window won’t go up, it makes this strange noise when I try to move it and the rain is pouring in my car!
QUICK EMERGENCY FIX: Remove the inside door panel, remove old regulator. Move window to top by hand. Shove old towels and such into the door, stuffing it from bottom to top to hold the glass in place until your part arrives from Amazon. Looks better than a plastic bag taped over your window. Not a long term fix because the towels will get wet and stinky after a week or two.
This part works GREAT! The only problem I had was in removing the old regulator from my Wife’s 2000 Ford Focus left rear window. There is a large plastic clip that slides over a plastic pin, and that plastic pin is inserted into a hole in the window glass. That plastic clip is a part of the REGULATOR and is snapped over the window pin at the factory to attach the regulator to the window glass. ITs VERY hard if not impossible to remove the pin, I was terrified I was going to break the window glass prying the clip apart with screwdrivers.
Then I got the idea of using a metal heavy duty paint scraper. I heated the paint scraper with a propane torch then melted the plastic at the bottom of the clip on the side facing towards the inside of the car. Once the “front” side of the clip was melted off, I pushed the back side off the pin without any problem and I was able to install the new regulator in minutes.
SOME REVIEWERS HAVE SAID THE MOTOR WAS DEAD ON THEIR NEW REGULATOR. I very much doubt this is the case. The electrical connection is VERY hard to push in all the way, it may LOOK like its in all the way, but if your motor isn’t working, then you didn’t push it in far enough.
I recommend you look at the depth the connector goes on your old motor power plug, and then you plug in the power to the new regulator and TEST it before you put it in the door. Note that the plug on the old and new regulator are the same, but the new one will be much tighter and harder to get in all the way since, well…its NEW! If you can’t push it in far enough with your fingers, then use pliers to gently squeeze the plug that last third of an inch.
It should take you less than an hour to remove your door panel, pull the old regulator and install the new one. Doing it yourself saves about $300.00

WARNING: Melting the pastic worked for me, it should also work for you, but safety is first. Have a fire extinguisher or garden hose at your side and ready to use. Propane flames are nearly invisible in sunlight, so be super careful and work in a location free from kids. Even better, have another person there to keep an eye on your torch and to people and pets away. Last, but not least, if you heat the plastic TOO much IT WILL CATCH ON FIRE. So don’t heat your tool any more than needed, just enough to gently melt the plastic. It will take you several cycles of heating your tool and melting the plastic. Be patient and BE SAFE.

This company need better quality control. I ordered the part and it arrived in a timely manner and all, but the motor DID NOT WORK! I tried everything with the car, ie fuses, wires, all was good. So i tried the old motor, IT WORKED. no matter what I did the “new” made in china motor would not work, so I swapped out the old motor and smooth sailing. NOTE: Dont throw away old parts unless the motor is what gave out on you, and make sure to plug all in before you put the plastic keeper in the glass, saves alot of trouble.
