I had read some of the poor reviews on this product and thought maybe they are the one percent of production. I was so wrong. I have bought many other dorman products and have never had a problem with fit or function. One of the things that the listing does not say is that the factory heat shields for the spark plug wires will not fit or even come close to fitting. I do know lots of people take these off sometimes anyways. I myself may have done it a few times. Then i noticed that the boots on the plug wires were only about a quarter of an inch from the manifold. I called dorman directly about this issue and they told me that because of the material of the manifold that i did not need the heat shields, but a quarter of an inch is way too tight. Then told me that if the crap they sent me would not work for my application the only thing i could do is return it to the place i got it from. I bought this for my completely stock 1982 c30 with a 454. I am completely upset and now i have to figure out what i am going to do to get my daily back on the road. I bought this product to keep from having down time not to add to it…..

Unfortunately; like others, I had issues with the Dorman 674-159 “Driver’s side” exhaust manifold fitting my 454 BB. The manifold would not sit square over the head ports. There was a slight “teeter totter” rocking when mounted against the head without gasket. The OEM GM manifold had the part # and other info cast in raised letter’s/number’s on the outside face of the manifold. The Dorman (Chinese made) had all this data on the inside face of the manifold body. The raised figures would contact the edge of the cylinder head causing the manifold to be canted out from the bottom about a .001″. The Chinese manifold body diameter was considerably thicker than the OEM GM casting. I ended up having to grind the length of the body a few thousandths to get the manifold to mate square. I used a .063 copper gasket which also stood the manifold off the head a bit more. There is plenty of “meat” on the Dorman, so don’t be shy using the grinder. I did not have this problem on the passenger side with the Dorman 674-161, it fit perfectly.

Given that the truck we have is, based on vin #, a 1989 GMC Dually R3500, I bought these manifolds. The problem that we are finding out, little by little, is that the truck has been redone, and parts of the motor are from newer gm trucks. This may be the reason they didn’t fit perfectly. They still fit, so they worked. Great price and fast shipping.

The manifold bolt it up and fit fine to the engine until I got to the bottom where the white pipe bolts to the manifold. The manifold seems to be a machine and to take two types of seals one of a double flange and then the cheap gasket they give you with the manifold. I installed it with the manifold gasket that was supplied and it was very loosely fit but all of my surprise it only lasted a week I am doing some homework and trying to find some sort of gasket or seal that would work better to see all these manifolds to the white pipe so far I am having no luck. I would either try and find OMG a manifolds or put headers on before I would buy these again
