Installed these on 2006 Buick Lucerne CXL with 4.6 V8
100% worth every penny I don’t care if they only last 1 year. Also people who said the threads aren’t right for the brake line bracket and ABS bracket are wrong, they are just very tight and rough cut threads which is actually good because then the bolts don’t back out from vibration.
My car drives 100% better considering the old struts were clunking and stuff. Cornering and hitting bumps is a breeze also Detroit Axle always delivers to me overnight or next day me being in Mid Michigan and them being in Detroit, MI.
** Note **
Be careful not to pull your steering knuckle out too far so you don’t pull your CV axle out of your transmission. Just move the knuckle enough to get the new strut in place and installed. I made this mistake and ended up having to buy a new CV shaft, turned a $150 project into a $240 one real quick.

I rated this product as 3 stars on the easy to install and by this I mean that the product itself fits like the original but if installing them by your self the hardest part I had was getting the lower part of strut into its proper place to install the bolts. Also on my 08 lucerne the bolts that connected the lower strut have groves on the side of the bolt and can be a little hard to knock out. So my install rating more of a factor of the how the car is made itself and not the strut.

Great product, great price, fast shipping. Installation was straight forward. This is typically not a job for just one person, you will need help getting the bolts and holes to line up on the steering knuckle, no big deal. No more rattles, rides great again, raised the ride height by about 1/2 an inch, which would be typical wear and tear on the old struts. I would recommend this product!

All my friends know the low rider… No more low rider, after installing these quick struts. Now car rides smoothly. These old school struts are much more affordable than the OEM active struts (I installed a homemade resistor pack to pacify the control module).

Another great buy from Detroit Axle. There products have always been spot on, and I’ve never had any issues with their customer service.
After reading the reviews on these struts and other sellers struts, the main issue seems to be the ride height / raise of the front end after installation. I went ahead and ordered these with the expectation of a slight rise in height.
Here is my review of the struts:
Shipping: Took less than 2 days to receive, Came well packaged and no damage.
Installation: installation was pretty straight forward and simple. Took me a couple hours, while taking my time.
Ride: Great improvement with the ride and steering going down the road. No more clunking going over the slightest bumps in the road.
Ride Height – As for the ride height question. Before the installation I measured the height of my front fender well. From the ground (center of tire) to the bottom of the fender well 28 3/4in. After the install it measured, 32 1/4. The ride height was increased about 2 1/2 inches.
Appearance: The increase wasn’t that noticeable and looked “OK”. And most people wouldn’t notice. Unless your a little OCD like me.
Resolution: I took the struts back out of my car, went to Auto Zone and rented a strut spring compressor. I then swapped the springs from the OEM struts with the new struts. After reinstalling Into the car, the new ride height was 29 1/2. About 3/4 in higher than I started, and the car now sits perfectly level. The ride is actually a little softer ride with the OEM springs. (a little more to my liking).
*Note the new strut springs were about 2.5 in taller than the OEM springs. The new springs had 5 coils in them and he OEMs had 4 coils.
This is my 2cents, take it for what is worth. This is a great product, and I would defiantly buy them again. If you are at all worried about the appearance or the ride height, rent yourself a spring compressor and swap springs before you install them.
I took measurements before and after installation

Pros: Went on without too much problem (except item 2 below), restored good quiet ride; cost savings.
Cons: Two major flaws, both unacceptable, that the manufacturer needs to fix:
1) Ride Height — as mentioned in many other reviews, these lifted the front end significantly from the stock struts. I measured the ride height before and after installing these and they lifted the front end a full 2 inches higher at the wheel well, changing the look of the car noticeably. A direct replacement part should not alter either the form or function of a vehicle unless they were specifically designed to do so. A change of a half inch in ride height could be considered acceptable, but a full two inches is not.
2) The other problem I ran into was the bolt holes for attaching the mounting brackets for the brake hose and the ABS harness were not threaded like the originals (see pics). I had to stop the installation and go to the hardware store to get some 5/16″ bolts and lock nuts to secure the mounting brackets onto the struts. Another unacceptable flaw.
Bottom line: With a name like Detroit Axle (yes, I know they’re made in China), these should be manufactured to closer tolerances and more attention paid to duplicating the OEM parts. Just installed so too early to tell how long they’ll last.
Would I buy these again? Probably not, unless I knew these problems were fixed.

Good to go. No instructions. After install you don’t have to mess with the center strut nut. Three nuts on top. Two nuts on bottom. Don’t tighten top nuts till the car is back on the ground under its own weight. 2003 Lasabre = 3 upper bolts 35Ft-LBS / 2 lower = 136Ft-LBS. See TRQ on the Tube!
