the struts work great ony mountaineer but the clunking noise the one makes drives me crazy it was very difficult to figure out what is making the noise

My old ones were shot, it felt so good to install these quiet clean precise structures, I love them, although before you order them replace you 6.0 grade strut bolt with an up to date 8 grade bolt with an 8 grade lock nut and washer , 8 grade bolts have 6 small lines on the head, and 6 grade has 3, your current one I doubt has any, meaning it could be 5.0 or lower, be safe not sorry… enjoy your struts

I have a 20 year old Explorer that I maintain at a high level. The present struts were well past their effective date and I replaced with these parts from Detroit axle. The improvement is dramatic. No more bounce, sway or pitching. Braking and acceleration are also improved. The truck is absolutely solid on the highway and just fun to drive again. Detroit Axle parts are as good as OEM parts…highly recommend.
