I was getting rough idling, flashing CEL, and a random misfiring code in my 2000 Camry, and this along with new denso plugs and wire seems to solve the issue. No more CEL and Camry idles smooth, so smooth can barely hear it. Drives like a new car again, 4th gen Camrys are indestructible. The golden age of Toyota. They dont build them like they used to anymore, my Camry has close to 500k miles and is 25 years old but its still on the road. If it doesnt get wrecked, I plan to drive it another 25 more years. It was negative 20 today in Wisconsin and my Camry still started and got me to work. Cant say the same about other brands.
Box is a bit misleading as it comes packaged in a long box with a picture of a coil on plug part. I had thought they shipped me the wrong part. But luckily its the correct part just in the wrong box! Seems like the real deal OEM Denso, has Japan and Denso on the part. Price is reasonable for the quality, seems legit only time will tell if its counterfeit or not. But trust me, you don’t want to cheap out on critical components like coils. Coil is marked for cylinder 2 and 3. Don’t forget to order the other coil pack, for cylinder 1 and 4. Honestly I don’t think it matters and you can get away with installing this one in the 1,4 coil place, but my OCD wouldn’t let me.
Pro tip: take the bracket mount off first, it is bolted next to the side of the engine, then it will make it much easier to remove and install these. I did it without taking the bracket off which is more difficult then it should be and requires a bit of coordination and dexterity as you won’t be able to see the 10mm bolts. Replacing the other 1,4 coil is even much harder as less clearance. Air intake hose, and throttle body will need to come off to install these.

My ’99 Camry is running much better with the replacement ignition coil installed after the previous one wore out and starting causing misfires. Don’t forget to get the other coil for the other 2 cylinders too.

This is the OEM part for the Toyota coil, meaning that Denso makes the Toyota part and the only difference is that this part says Denso on the side and not Toyota. Works perfectly.

The two I got said Japan on the label. I think the quality of an electrical component matters and I don’t know of a country in the world that pays more attention to quality in the manufacture of electrical components than Japan (with the exception of some in the states, but they’re not making older automotive model coils).. I’m thrilled that these are made in Japan, instead of China. That being said, I haven’t installed them yet, but I’ll get it done, and I’m sure I’ll be pleased.
