This set replaced perfectly the original equipment wires on my 1996 4Runner (I had purchased the last set from Toyota about 7 years ago). These wires are the same quality but less than half the price. The spiral insulating wrap is not present on these but it’s easy enough to swap from the original wires. The number 3 wire on my OE set had two extra rubber insulators that were not present on this set, but they are probably not necessary.
These wires are not numbered (as the OE set are) but the lengths are correct so it’s easy enough to match them up to the correct coils and spark plugs. Incidentally, the numbers on the OE wires correspond to the coils on the passenger side, not the cylinders on the driver’s side.
The wire set includes installation instructions and a packet of silicone grease to lubricate the spark plug boots so be sure to use it. Just remove and install one wire at a time and you should have no problems installing these. It took me about an hour to install these but I’m slow. I got 100,000 miles out of my last set of OE wires and spark plugs and my 4Runner was still running great but it was time to replace them.
