    The Avalon has 3 O2 sensors so do plenty of research on which one of your codes it pointing too. This sensor is connected on the catalytic converter and resolved (P1150 & P1155) 2 of the 3 codes that I had on my car. I did purchase the other Denso 02 Sensor 234-9021 which resolved my other engine code P1135. I will say that this is the best price available anywhere compared to Advanced Auto Parts or Autozone, so please save your money and buy this from Amazon. The sensors should be the same for the 2nd Gen Avalon’s (1999-2004) so this will guaranteed fit on your Avalon.
    Key things to know for the replacement of this sensor, remember to disconnect the ground terminal off battery, you will need a O2 sensor tool to remove the old one and install the new one and the passenger seat has to be un-bolted to disconnect the sensor and run the sensor through the small hole.

    1996 Toyota Corolla 1.8L DX installed this 3 months ago and it has been working great since. Passed emissions last week and no sign of the check engine light. As far as I’m concerned this is a great deal. Saved me a hundred dollars over buying it at the local auto parts store. So you know the protective casing around the wires is not nearly as thick as the original part was. But the connector fit perfectly. Super easy to install. And just to give you an idea of my skill level, I do my own oil changes, brakes and one time I replaced a starter and a valve cover gasket.

    Execelente servicio de paquetería, llegó bastante rápido a pesar que venía de USA.
    Este sensor 234-4061 es el que necesitaba para un Toyota Avalon ’99. Había comprado sensores de oxígeno genéricos pero ninguno sirvió. No malgasten su dinero y compren los Denso para su Toyota. Revise varios foros así como la página principal Denso , para comprobar que era la pieza necesaria para mí auto,sin duda alguna lo fue, quitó el molesto “check Engine'”. Este me sirvió para el B1S2 , que va después del catalizador. Mi auto es de emisiones Federales ( no California), revisen su auto antes de comprarlo.

    I replaced both upstream and downstream o2 sensor. Removal of the factory downstream o2 sensor was difficult at ~150k mi. I did it with liquid wrench (spray), breaker bar, o2 sensor socket, and weight of Corolla to break it loose. Right above rear o2 sensor, I stuff wood blocks between exhaust pipe and floor of the car so exhaust pipe won’t move around. With the car on floor, I use car jack on the handle end of the breaker bar and just keep raising it until i heard a metallic pop. Didn’t bother with a torch, since it is pretty close to floor of the car, other things might ignite. Liquid wrench soaked for 1 day didn’t work either. Im sure there are other ways to remove o2 sensor, but this was how i did it.

    As far as downstream o2 sensor rubber boot, Denso’s oem looked less robust than Toyota’s original o2 sensor. Its instruction did advise to wrap wiring with electrical tape to keep possible exhaust gas out. Instead of that, I used high temp silicon (Permatex® Sensor-Safe High-Temp RTV Silicone Gasket) between sensor wiring and inside the rubber boot for an airtight seal.

    Upstream o2 sensor was far easier to remove (2x 12 mm hex bolt). Installation of both Denso o2 sensors were straightforward. So far, no codes and no check engine light!

    Denso 234-4061 is the downstream sensor for my Avalon. It installed on the exhaust pipe just beneath the passenger seat and resolved my check engine light issue. The electrical connection is inside under the passenger seat and this part has the exact electrical end that fits the toyota. Some cheaper ones require you to cut and splice wires. The seat removes with 4 bolts. Just tip it back to get it out of the way. Then you have to remove the floor carpet in the passenger area. The only “tricky” part to that is removing the plastic finish panel on the passenger-door hinge side of the compartment. There is a threaded fastener that holds that panel on. Unscrew it and remove the panel. Then the carpet can be removed enough for easy access to the electrical connector.

    I sprayed the old sensor 2X a day for 3 days with PB blaster to help it break loose. You cannot get an 02 socket over this sensor (at least not in my application). You need a large open end wrench. I dont advise it, but I used a small pipe wrench and an extension. It is not unusual for these to be so stuck that they just tear out of the exhaust pipe. I got lucky and mine unthreaded. If it is really stuck you can try heat. If the bung tears out of the exhaust pipe a muffler shop can usually weld in a new one simply enough so it is not the end of the world if this happens to you.
