- Delphi uses winding process techniques to control the length of wire between adjacent windings. That’s important because more length results in greater voltage differences, which in turn create more pressure that could break down the insulation and wire coating.
- Delphi’s ignition coils are engineered to Original Equipment specifications
- Delphi’s ignition coils are designed with proven materials, such as high quality wires and wire coating that resists the cracks, pin holes and imperfections that most often lead to failure issues
- Epoxy vacuum techniques reduce air bubbles in the epoxy, because having fewer air bubbles increases the epoxy’s insulation quality and reduces the chances of energy punch-through failures
- Delphi’s coils are designed and endurance tested to resist the common stresses that cause failure

My R56 mini cooper has engine misfires on 2 cylinders and I traced the problem as bad coils. The mini dealership wants $128 for each coils plus 1 hour minimum labour for diagnostics/installation. The original Mini Delphi coils have molded boots like the Bosch coils and this seems to have a different boot but I tried pulling it and it won’t separate so I guess it is fine. I decided to swap all 4 coils as a lot of folks at mini forums says better have all the same and I will just keep the other 2 used coils as back-ups. The installation only took 5 minutes and the car is running fine again and no more misfiring codes that I need to clear. It has a snug fit and has a good seal on the top just like the original mini Delphi coils.

Update: 8/6/2017 – So I called Delphi to get warranty replacement. While they are covered by a 3 year warranty, Delphi says that warranty is done at the point of sale and that they can’t help me. In this case, that’s Amazon. Well talking to Amazon reps, Amazon can’t replace them after the return period nor can they work with the manufacturers to get warranty replacement. The 1st line rep was nice but couldn’t help. The 2nd line rep was a total d!ck! Pretty much said I was SOL so I request a supervisor. This person told me that the sup would say the same thing. But I insisted anyway. Got a supervisor and he quickly offered me a return/refund on the defective unit. While this came to a good conclusion, it definitely will complicate things in the future if I have another failure. My advice, DO NOT BUY DELPHI products from Amazon. Neither companies are equipped to handle warranty issues. Lowering my ratings to a 1-star!
Bought this Jan 2018, its now august. 1 of the 6 coils has already failed. Thankfully, i kept the good coils from my previous set (I believe they were OEM Bosche) to quickly troubleshoot and replace. Also the electrical connector was key’d differently than my harness so i had to slightly modify it to fit, even though the listing claims it’s a fit for my car. Work fine for about 7 months until the one coil failed. I certainly expected more from a Delphi Part. They did work wonderfully for the 7 months.

Perfect fit on my 2009 MINI Cooper non S. I had replaced another ignition coil last year. Now another one went. I strongly recommend that if one fails on you, just replace all four. It’s a great price at $25. You’ll pay $50 at Advance Auto who sells the same one. You should also invest in a basic OBD2 code reader. But if you are looking up this part, you likely already know your issue.

A perfect fit for my Mini R60 S All4. Exact fit, OEM product. Fixed my issue with a small miss under load. One of the four didn’t fit right, but I have no worries that Amazon will make it right. Would definitely recommend.
*Edit* A replacement was delivered the very next day! Fit perfect, works perfectly. Very pleased.
UPDATE:
These coils have been every bit as solid as OEM. I will absolutely order these again, as it’s been around 2 years, I’m going to change them soon just for routine maintenance, and these will be a perfect set to keep around for spares, because they are still working fine. I have a Stage 3 RPM(brand) ECU tune, running @ 22psi boost pressure, and these have handled everything I’ve thrown at them. I have purchased more expensive “performance “ coils, and none work as well as the OEM ones do. These are OEM replacements, just without the MINI logo.
Highly recommended

Great product. Like many others have said, this coil pack sticks up a little bit higher than the Bosch. While it’s literally the same size, the rubber boot sits higher on the Delphi. Once you slide the coil on, you can adjust the rubber boot to be snug so no dust, etc. gets into the cylinder. It’s that simple. I’d suggest going to Pelican Parts > select BMW > select Tech Info tab > select E90 (or your model) to find detailed instructions and large blow up pictures to 1) Remove the engine cover and 2) to change ignition coil and plugs. The instructions were very good. I also ordered the Caldera 14mm 12pt socket for the plugs since I have the twin turbo engine. Very good socket for $7 on Amazon. Only other recommendation is to change or clean your air and cabin filters while you have everything torn apart. Finally, the Bosch plugs (ZGR6STE2) were identical to OEM, except they didn’t say BMW. My 335xi is highly tuned so plug changes are required more frequent. There was a significant change in throttle response once I changed out older, more warn parts.

I purchased four of these for my 2011 R56 and at first, I was impressed with the quality of the coils. Two months of light commuting later, one of them stopped working and left me stranded on the side if the road. (OBDII code P0301.) I verified it was the specific coil by placing it on a different cylinder and the missfire problem followed as expected. (OBDII code P0302).
Needless to stay, I won’t buy Delphi again unless I’m in a pinch for time or cash. It doesn’t help that their customer service line is only open Monday-Friday 9-5.
Edit: Changed to 4 stars because it was not the quality of the coil that caused the failure but didn’t give 5 stars because of the lack of customer service.
