Most part stores will say, “don’t swap parts if you don’t have A error or it has not fail”.
I say that’s NOT ALWAYS TRUE. I replace TWO electronics sensors & my gas mileage went better & it also start faster now!
I wish I had changed this years ago. +++++

Came without bit and screws so when I got to that point I had to put everything back together and go buy a bit. Sensor works well though runs smooth.

  3. Clint Currie

I had an engine light and one of the possible issues was the MAF sensor. So I took a chance and ordered this as a replacement. No more engine light. Very happy.

My ’98 Ford truck (264,0000 miles) started pinging about a month ago. I ran a variety of combustion chamber cleaners through the fuel system but nothing worked. Only premium fuel eliminated the pinging. We finally tried the “Seafoam” treatment in the intake system but even that was unsuccessful, but it did make a wonderful cloud of smoke. I noticed a hole in the exterior of the MAF and decided to order this one. The first delivery had no torx wrench or screws and I returned it, no problem. The second MAF was complete and today it was installed. Two immediate improvements: The pinging disappeared and the idle is dead smooth. If fuel mileage improves I will update my review.

Plugged it in and the vehicle wouldn’t start anymore. I purchased the same item from Ford and the vehicle started right up.

  6. Who Knows

Been dealing with rattling noise coming from the engine whenever it’s under load for the past 9+ years on my 1998 Ford Expedition 4.6L (231,526 miles). Had a mechanic listen and confirm that rather than being what I felt was chain slap, was actually in fact spark knock. Having changed out the spark plugs, wires and coil packs, I turned to F-150 forums. Many having the same problem pointed to Ford’s Technical Service Bulletin stating a known issue with Spark Knock (aka Pinging) being caused by dirty or faulty MAF sensor. I quickly removed the MAF from the air canister housing and sprayed both probes down and inserted it back into the housing and the spark knock remained. The Ford TSB recommended replacing rather than cleaning the MAF sensor but being the cheapskate that I am, I’m gonna try everything before I start dropping $$$ on parts. Bought this two days ago, and it arrived today. I quickly disconnected the battery, and installed the new Delphi MAF sensor. Reconnected the battery and went for a spin so the ECM could relearn. Spark knock is gone. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised. This was the original MAF sensor that came with the truck when it rolled off the assembly line in November 1997 that I replaced. The fix was totally worth the $80 diagnostic and $90 part. Thank you.

Perfect replacement for my 1998 Ford F150 5.4L. Fixed a months long problem with hard to start, too lean condition on both banks, and LT fuel trim maxing out with increased RPM.

    I’d recommend

  9. Dave H.

Auto tech. for 30 years and counting. Part was not avail. from Ford anymore for 1998 Expedition 5.4L This Delphi part was highly recommended.
Battery disconnected to clear learned values. Replaced MAF sensor with this Delphi part. New Ford air filter. Road tested to allow relearn process and all readings for voltage KOEO,KOER and Hertz value achieved 160 after driving which is ideal for my area.(Stockton Calif.) Spot on readings all in spec’s. and performance excellent!
