Please read full review to understand the 2 stars.
I installed this on a 2006 Yamaha F225TXR 4 stroke. It lifts the motor up and down fine. But now comes the problem. Straight out of the box the motor will not work with the hydraulic unit. The shaft coming out of the motor is about 1/16”-1/4” longer than the original unit. So when you tighten down the 3 screws to hold the motor to the unit, the motor will lock down and will not work because the shaft is pushed into the motor causing it to lock down. I tested this because the motor works fine outside the unit but when you mount it with the 3 screws it would not work so luckily and figured out the problem and made it work. I had to get a grinder and shave off the excess 1/16” or so and made it work but if you’re not willing to go through the trouble this motor will not work for you. Is it not a take off old and put in new type of job. I did not return it because I made it work but I will try a different brand next time it breaks. I have only tried it for two days and I have not gone out to the water with it. If water gets in or something happens I will update this review. Hope that helps

We’ve purchased a trim motor for our Sea Hunt Yamaha and when the FIRST motor arrived it didn’t work. Requested a replacement and today the 2nd motor arrived and it doesn’t work. That’s TWO motors in less then two weeks that don’t work! Contacted their technical support and they said, “We don’t know what Amazon does to the motors when they get them.” Was also told you can’t expect a motor to work after it’s been sitting for nearly 50 years. Ok this is a motor that was made in 11/21! It’s less then six months old! There isn’t an expiration date on a motor sitting on a shelf! The worst customer service help! This is supposed to be a reputable company that was recommended by many in the Sea Hunt Facebook groups. If they are sending out faulty items and not offering any customer service support it’s a company I would not and will not do business with in the future! BUYERS BEWARE! Two weekends our boat can’t be in the water now, thanks for nothing DB Electrical!

Fit Perfect, looks well made. Only thing I didn’t like was the wires rigth when they come out of the motor aren’t protected by heat shrink but the rest of the wires are protected by heat shrink. Didn’t make sense why the base of the wires wouldn’t be protected. I added some heat shrink there and filled it with Dielectric great to keep the water out. Hope it lasts a few years!

Was not that hard to install my Son and I had it in about 2 hours has been over A month still going strong.

  5. Amazon Customer

My original power T&T motor failed after thirteen years. Yamaha factory replacement was $600+; was glad to get this one delivered by Amazon in like one day for less than $140; ordered on Saturday and received on Monday morning (Memorial Day); great service by Amazon and the USPS (yes, working on Memorial Day). Wire routing is on top on the T&T motor versus bottom of the unit as factory; was not a problem in my application; perhaps a benefit. The unit appears have thin black powder coat paint; I chose to lightly sand it and apply a couple of coats of the Yamaha factory blue gray spray paint a day prior to installing (an additional application of clear coat would have been preferable). Installation is a bit challenging as the power T&T unit ‘should’ be removed to get proper access to the back screw nearest the transom. Wiring harness appears to be similar quality to that of the factory unit. Whole process took me three hours including re-purging the fluid and cleanup with the boat on a ground level shore rack. Great value and from what I read others have experienced good service with DB Electrical replacements.

Bought one last year for one of the twins. After 6 trips off shore significant signs of corrosion. Just bought another and coated Yamaha grey with clear coat.

If you use in saltwater at all. Disassemble it and add some paint.

Replacement was a pain in the tail because of the design of my Yamaha f225 tilt/trim system but the motor works great! I took the advice of others and put the tip on a grinder to shorten it just a hair. I also primed it and spray painted it with factory yamaha outboard paint before installing. Looks and works great!

Ended up going with a different brand
