Bought this starter for my 50HP Mercury outboard in March 2020. We’ve only taken the boat out about a dozen times since the starter was purchased. And we’ve done some engine adjustments and parts replacement over that time as well.
This starter worked fine until this morning, when it suddenly “stuck” the Bendix in the up position and wouldn’t disengage. I removed the starter, took it to a local shop, had it tested and was told that it’s broken and needs to be replaced.
This is very disappointing. That starter should have lasted for years and years without issues. I can’t recommend this product.
