Works very well. On my generator it’s an easy replacement. I would buy 2 though. The gear did wear out in about a year. We use our generator a lot at the track. Not disappointed especially with the price as low as it is.

It fit perfectly into the housing, I got everything tight and electrified. I hadn’t used generator for a couple of months , so I knew the stale gas in line would need several starts to clean-up. Probably started 20 times or more in short space of time. Starter showed no sign of faltering . Now I plan to start it weekly … seems great at a great price. (dealer wanted $390 and I paid less than $90.

Our Onan generator recently surprised us with the unexpected gift of not spinning when the start button was pushed :>( Luckily, we found this replacement that fit perfectly into the spot the OEM version had occupied and cost significantly less than the OEM version. Installation is not all that difficult if you are a masochistic contortionist; however, once you do it, you will learn some tricks that you will unfortunately forget before you ever do the job again :>( Works great so far, and fit and finish appear solid.

I spent hours digging out old pieces of pinion on my old starter, replaced it with this one. Worked great until the 3rd go at starting my generator when the pinion exploded leaving me with no power and with another hours long task of replacing it. DO not buy this DB Electrical version.

I have bought two of these starters, The first one cranked the engine over one time then the next time it just spun without engaging the engine ring gear. Fearing the a piece of the old starter gear lodged in the new starter as it was spinning the first time breaking it, I bought another starter and an endoscope to see if I could locate the missing piece of the gear. After removing the starter I found that the drive gear was stuck in the retracted position, defective drive, I didn’t send it back because I had ordered two new drive units to repair the starter with. The second new starter is functioning fine no issues. Loses 1 star to defective drive.
I did retrieve all the pieces of the original shattered drive gear (it is a composite gear so not magnetic, not fun but much easier with the endoscope and mechanical fingers) and found that there was no way for it to have been kicked up to hit the new drive.

This is a replacement starter for the generator in my RV. It replaces the original starter that wore out the
plastic gear. While it works well it also has a plastic gear. The gear could easily be replaced but a
replacement gear is not offered so they force you to purchase a new starter at a much higher price
than a gear would cost. Another example of excess cost for the consumer.
