Alternator worked well however pulley does not seem to match standard type ,A, or type ,B, v-belts. I swapped that pulley with a standard belt pulley. Recommended.

This is a self-exciting alternator – the engine will have to rev up slightly just once for the internal voltage regulator to kick in and start charging. Once it starts charging, it will continue doing so until the engine is shut off. Be aware there is a 100-110 amp version of this alternator available too. This one settled in a 14.5 volts all throughout the RPM range – perfect. Replaced the four wire alternator on a Mercruiser 200 V8 alpha drive.

I bought an Amazon return for a great price. It was probably returned by someone who is throwing parts at their boat trying to fix it. It does cause my alternator belt to be SLIGHTLY looser. Keep that in mind. I barely got it tight enough. Obliviously not the parts fault, just wanted to point out it. It does seem to need to “wake up”, it did look like it was charging on first start. But it did start after I backed the boat off my trailer. Not sure if that’s true yet but that’s what it seemed first time out. Off idle, it was charging at 14.5 ☺️ perfect

Easy to install. Only had to change the angle of the tensioner Bracket.
Deleted the two wires for the old alternator. Self exciting works great. The only difference is the pulley is literally a hair smaller in diameter and the shaft is a different size. Belt works great on it and it’s not maxed out on tension.

Very happy to find this to replace the existing dead alternator on my 3.7 L (488) Mercruiser engine. I only had to make one small modification by drilling out the mounting hole to accept a slightly larger bolt that mounts it to the engine block. Couldn’t beat the price either! Probably would have been double if I tried to get one from a marine dealer and waited weeks for it to come in. Got this one the next day after ordering. Job done!
