Spent the whole day trying to put it on my 06 commander taking apart the struts as stated in the directions, then when running into a snag tried to call tech support but guess what they were closed on a Saturday so everything had to be put back together……without the lift, Well it is going back!

Put this on my 5.7 Jeep a few weeks ago. I’m not a mechanic but I’m also not an idiot. It took me all weekend. It was probably about 7or 8 hours of actual work. Make sure you have a spring compressor and some deep well sockets. The instructions were a little confusing mainly because I’m not familiar with the terminology. I asked my mechanic to check my shocks before I changed the lift, needed an inspection, and he said they were good. I pulled the front strut loose and it was completely dead. Now I’ll be pulling it all apart again to change the struts. I also changed the back shocks to the load adjusting ones. They were a nice upgrade especially when puking my trailer or boat. I went with a 265/70/17 and still had to trim the control arm bolt. Is recommend spacersThat’s going to suck changing my struts but oh well. I’ll add pictures later.

very very surprised with this kit. i have installed/run lifts on my jeeps for years and have always gone the long arm route, but this is for my soon to be 16yo step-son’s 2005 WK so we opted for a more cost friendly method to make room for a set of rubicon wheels and tires(255/70/17 Mud-Terrain KMs). not only did it level out the Grand like i was wanting but i actually got a little more lift than i was expecting to get(2.75″ front and around 2″ rear) and because the springs are not new i dont believe that it will settle down less than that. plenty of room for the Rubicon setup with this lift. as for installation it was not bad at all, but the instructions come with an exploded view of the front struts you have to disassemble to install the lift and they are misleading which causes you LOTs of extra work on the 1st side that you do(once you see the error you wont do the other side the same and it cuts the install time by literally half). the issue is it looks like you have to remove the front struts from the clevis fork that mounts to the lower a-arm and you do NOT. the lift goes above the coil spring perch meaning you can just undo the tie rod, brake caliper, sway bar and upper ball joint and swing the strut outward and install in that position. it is almost impossible to get the strut loose from the clevis fork and also the clevis fork from the lower a-arm. also the driver side rear upper control arm hits the gas tank skid which doesnt allow the axle to droop low enough to get out the factory coil much less the coil with spacer. bolt must be removed which is no big deal but reinstalling can be tricky. good floor jack and using a ratchet strap to help align the bolt hole when done solves the issue though…overall i am VERY pleased with this and would recommend no questions asked.

AMAZING!!! Wish I would have done the modification years ago. Very well designed kit. You will be cutting some of the rusted bolts off because they won’t budge. Its fine because the front swing arms had worn rubber bushings and cutting them off and pressing in a $14 bushing made it ride like new. Reuse your old Jeep springs. I got complete struts, thinking it would be easier. Hated them. Went back and got Monroe Matic $22/ea for rear and new gas struts with original Jeep springs front. I went 2 sizes up in tires from 245/65 17 to 265/70 17 NITTO Terra Grappler G2 (65k TIRE!) and added 1.5″ spacers to widen the stance by 3″. Really like the combination. Very minor rubbing on the front wheel on back pad but have 1200miles and its fine. Plan to remove that pad in the wheel well this summer. The side photo has the front at stock height (I removed lift because I didn’t like the Sensen complete struts I bought). Have since relifted front with original stock Jeep springs and new gas strut inserts! Kit lifted 2″ both front and back. PDQ photo… does the stock Jeep make my Lifted Jeep’s Butt look Big?!?. LOL

Did their job but they should send hardware for install, half the stuff you need to reuse will break taking the old struts and springs out

Im going to keep it real….here we go…
This kit actually Maintains a smooth factory ride without adding much body roll and seemed to handle the moderate off road conditions well.
The install is easy if you have access to all the tools a shop has because the instructions are not great. You will need patience if you don’t have air tools, some jack stands, two jacks, pickle fork, tie rod separator, a mounted vise to press out/in the stems for the struts, some wd-40, duplicate socket sizes, breaker bar, small pry bar, mallet, open end wrenches, strut compressor (NOT A COIL SPRING COMPRESSOR), bandaids, and gloves.
If you are in the mood, it’s a good time to paint your calipers and coil springs.

Second Daystar Lift we have Bought for our Jeeps and we have not been let down!! You need to blow your struts apart but it’s well worth it for the end result !! Love the lift and the customer service and warranty is up there with the best. We would highly recommend this product and the seller to anyone !! Great buy !!

Did it do the job? Sure. But just do yourself a favor & get a 3” spacer kit. Putting it on blocks allows you to replace your struts easier. This kit goes inside pre-existing struts, then you end up throwing out the old insulators for the rear coils & wished you hadn’t when you want the extra inch. On top of the fact you will then need to remove this kit from your struts to put the lift kit into the new struts when you are ready to replace. I put on 265/70R17’s & had rub even after the pinchweld mod & 1.25” wheel spacers. You will want the 3” instead of the 2”. No, it isn’t too much if you’re putting bigger tires on your WK. These will cost more to install or take longer if you are doing it yourself. Now go get 3” block spacers for $140-$180 & rest assured you saved yourself alot of $ from not re-doing suspension in the most painful way.
