The Dasaita Radio Upgrade is a fantastic improvement over the OEM setup. It’s much better than other overseas options I’ve used, with a 10.25″ QLED touchscreen that looks great and performs smoothly. The wireless CarPlay and Android Auto work seamlessly, and the system is quick with its Qualcomm 665, 8-Core CPU. I also appreciate that it’s all prewired, making installation much easier. Overall, it’s a huge upgrade that enhances the entire driving experience.

I purchased this for my 2016 Toyota 4Runner because my stock head unit was way out of date. The screen was extremely small in dimension and it didn’t have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The new unit’s screen measures 9” diagonally. The installation was fairly straight forward. I’ve had two other higher end head units but I had to return both of them due to compatibility issues. Plus you get a lot more features with this unit and it’s about half the price of the higher end units. The only complaint I have with this unit is you can’t adjust the volume for the stereo, navigation and phone calls separately. They’re all one volume level. So whatever volume you have on the stereo, it’s the same for the navigation and phone calls or visa versa. Also the instruction manual is pretty vague. You have learn all of the functions by trial and error. This why I gave this unit 4 out of 5 stars.

Product display does not turn on after less than 2 weeks of light use. Bluetooth connectivity stopped working. Product is not compatible with carbon fiber trim overlays. Radio feature does not connect to radio stations or the antenna apparently for that matter. Do not buy it’s not worth the money paid for this cheaply Chinese made yet expensive product.

This is a no-brainer upgrade from the stock 5th-generation 4Runner head unit. It looks great, functions flawlessly with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, and even retains the cool beefy knobs of the original radio. I put mine in a 2018 TRD 4Runner.
The install kit is really well thought out. I was happy to see it came with a pry tool for plastic components on the dash. While the documentation isn’t perfect, it’s way better than a lot of products that come from China.
Take your time installing it. It’s not difficult and won’t require any special tools or expertise, but it’s worth watching a YouTube video or two to see how it’s done. Don’t be intimidated! There is no wire splicing, and despite the bird’s nest of cables you get in the package, everything you need is there and will plug into the designated harness connectors. When I was done, all my steering wheel buttons worked, my USB outlet was powered, and the head unit connected to my Bluetooth phones with no problem (wireless Android Auto in my case).
A few notes:
> Once you confirm the unit is working, update the system firmware and MCU files ASAP. You can do this over WiFi, either through a direct connection or your phone’s hotspot. It’s in the “Settings” on your head unit’s native interface.
> I didn’t bother installing the GPS antenna, as I will be using my phone’s GPS via Android Auto for navigation. It’s not necessary if you’re using Android Auto or Carplay. That said, there’s nothing wrong with the native maps and the included antenna, I just didn’t feel like routing it onto my dashboard. I’m in the backcountry of Colorado for a lot of my adventures, and I simply download my Google Maps offline.
> I’m using the stock microphone in the head unit (not the one that you could optionally plug in, which is included). All my calls sound fine on both ends, but a caveat is that I don’t use voice-activated services like Google so it’s not all that important to me.
> Though I don’t think I’ll use them, I installed the double USB connectors and tucked them out of the way near the glove box. I’m not sure if they might one day serve as a diagnostic entry point, but I don’t use them (I power my phone through a USB C to C connector in the armrest).
> Finally, note that if you want to sell your OEM head unit, there is a market for it. You will likely swap out some of the brackets on the original for the new head unit, so be sure to mention that if you are listing your used head unit for sale. Chances are your potential buyers would swap out a malfunctioning head unit and likely have the brackets on their broken unit, but it’s worth knowing.
Anyhow, I’m about a month into using this head unit and I love it. It’s so much safer and easier to use than the stock Toyota head unit. The screen looks great, backup cam is functional, maps are updated via Google Maps on my phone, and the sound is excellent to boost. I still haven’t tapped into the other native functions on the device—which is essentially like a portable tablet—but I’m sure someday when I’m stuck in traffic on Colorado’s notorious I-70, I’ll see what they are all about.

Bought and installed this head unit for my daughter’s 16th birthday. Install was pretty straight forward, though the metal mounting brackets needed 3-4mm removed from each one to allow the head unit to bolt up to the brackets. 2 of the clips that hold the head unit in that need to be moved over from the stock unit won’t fit the Dasaita unit, the holes in the Dasaita are off by a few mm’s. Lots of harnesses to pay attention to, but this is to be expected with the functionality that unit has. After about a month of use, my daughter has started to notice an extended amount of time needed for the unit to connect to her phone which was the main reason for the head unit upgrade, Apple CarPlay. I will work to see if there are any pending software updates and will update this review as time goes on.

I really want to love this upgrade. Such a nice surround and makes this seem almost stock… The issue is that connecting to phones is a little slow, it will only connect to the last phone it connected to and that drives me crazy. Finally and perhaps most importantly, it is so bright at night that it feels dangerous. I have tried everything. Hopefully a full reflash of the firmware helps….

I wish i could give half a star because it is not 100% perfect. It has some minor issues but overall a big improvement from the oem outdated stereo. Install is simple, there are some youtube videos out there. Looks great and has a lot more great fetures for it.
Now the cons:
Volum doesnt seem to go up as loud as oem stereo
Although a lot you can do with it, not much info on how to do so. Took a while to figure out how to add a new wallpaper thats wasnt a preset one.
Microphone kind of sucks, a lot of background noise for the other person on the phone with me. Not sure if thats the microphone or the stereo, will be buying a nother mic to see.
Backup camera footage is a little blurry but i believe due to it going from a decent quality camera to a good quality screen.
Overall im happy with it and the wife is. We will see how long it lasts
