O Cosmoline RP-342 “Heavy” é o spray preventivo de ferrugem mais forte, duradouro e de secagem rápida disponível no mercado. I just got done using this as an undercoat on my ’13 Toyota Landcruiser. It went on great and sticks well, it will only drip when you really saturate an area. I pressure washed first and started spraying this stuff on. 3 can barely coated everything and I followed up with fluid film on the insides of every frame rail and door. If I had another can of cosmolone I’d have used it. If you’re going to do a full size SUV I’d order four cans. If your going to go nuts on a full size pickup with an 8′ bed order six cans. This stuff is still in my hair after a hot shower so I think it will keep my truck rust free (it’s a Texas truck I shipped up to Illinois) for the foreseeable future. I plan on spraying my snowblower and anything else that’s going to need protection.

The formulae is legendary. It stops time itself. Great prep for storing things long-term. If you have a tool that you don’t want to take from the mothballs every six months, this is the product to use. In the WWII era, this product was known as “Cosmoline”. It smells like canvas tents and howitzers.

Only needs a little bit for coverage.goes on like fluid film but after an hour turns a beautiful matte black! I first sanded a bit and coated with Corriseal to stop the rust, waited for it to dry then applied 2 and 1/2 cans for the underside of a jeep Wrangler spraying all metal, even taking wheels off and spraying linkages behind the wheels (except exhaust parts ) so 3 cans is necessary to get everything. I love this stuff thank you will get more for my other vehicle soon.

I bought a cheap Jeep for $50.00. Overall, the body looked to be “rust free”, but crawling underneath it, I found out the floor pans on the driver’s side are rusted really bad. I went to remove the battery from battery tray, and the whole battery AND tray came out along with the bolts holding the tray in – revealing a huge hole where the battery tray once sat. I formed and welded in a patch to cover up the hole, sprayed it generously with Rust-O-Leum Black rust protection paint. Then, I opened up the garage doors and sprayed on Cosmoline’s RP-342 Rust Prevention coating – both inside the engine bay area where the tray will sit, and on the underside inside the fender well area. The RP-342 comes out of the can as a heavy, thick, spray-able wax-like consistency. The garage doors definitely need to be open, and wear a cartridge-style chemical spray mask. The fumes are not to be taken lightly. It will take 24 hours to fully cure. Once dry, the surface should last a long time. The underside of the front fender well will be covered by a inner splash shield to aid in protecting the rusted area. The texture of the spray is like a heavy syrup with an amber color. When sprayed over the color matte Black, it’s hardly noticeable. I bought 3 cans because I have to replace the driver’s side floor pans front & rear, and I will using this from front to back to stop the rust from further spreading. I live in a salt state in the winter, and I want the underside to be well protected from salt damage. This is the stuff you use to stop rust in its tracks!

This is the most convenient way to rust proof my F150. Each can is small enough to reach in most areas. I don’t have to run a compressor. However, having said all this, nothing is perfect. Each can comes with a straw nozzle. They keep falling off and losing them. Not a big deal. I just need to pay close attention to them. Without the straw, getting in close spaces is difficult. Also, the straw is limited in length. So, it does not reach deep into the box frame. This stuff does creep so I’m hoping that it will find its way into the out of reach spaces. Also, be generous when you apply it. I’m hoping it is strong than other brands. We’ll see this winter. So far, highly recommended.

I had a serious rust problem just on the steel platform of my H3 – I used rust converter & used RP 342 military grade amber. The spray goes on easy & dries pretty quick- so far there’s no indications of rust appearing under the initial coat- if you use just the rust converter the rust can start appearing again in just days- I used three cans for the entire undercarriage- the NYC winter will be the ultimate judge- as they salt if they even dream it might snow & I live three blocks from the salt water. I will check in around April to update on the durability of this product! 👍

Came across this from a YouTube video, living in the northeast my vehicles are subjected to very harsh road conditions. I put a coat of rustoleum rust reformer on before this cosmoline and let that cure for a day then apply this stuff. Once dried you can watch the water fly off whatever you spray with it, nothing sticks to it. Mud, sand, salt… nothing, best stuff I’ve come across hands down. Highly recommend
