Common symptoms of a bad ECT sensor are overheating, hard starting conditions, poor idle, black smoke coming from the engine, Check Engine Light ON and the electric fans do not work properly. Be aware that coolant will gush out when removing the old plug so have the new sensor close and ready to attempt to reduce the amount of coolant loss.

The item is danger, it’s almost killed my car…
During driving on the highway, the plastic part was loose and all coolant gone. My AUDI TT was overheating till 130 degrees, still not sure if the engine is ok. Pls take care during purchasing the Chinese parts.

It came when supposed to, went right in and now it’s fixed. Auto mechanic told me $1,200 to fix it. I removed the air breather and it was so easy, they, the mechanics should be ashamed of themselves. It cost me13 bucks and took 5 minutes to install. Thank you.

The retention clip is the wrong size, too large, to retain the sensor in a flush manner. My sensor did not seat correctly and leaked. I compared my original to the new clip and it was observably larger. The fit around both my original and new temp sensor was sloppy. I reverted to my original retention clip which “snapped” in tightly and my sensor seated flush. The sensor does work and the o-ring supplied is the right size. Use your original retention clip.

Bought 2 of them. Ecauseof other reviews on similar items indicating g that the plastic clip holding the sensor in place is very fragile. I used extreme caution, made sure the sensor was seated properly before trying to insert the clip. Alas, sure enough, it snapped on the first one. Was even more careful with the second, but it also snapped. Now I have nothing but unusable junk sensors. I am sure there are vendors that sell better products, I would say stay away from these unless you have absolutely easy access. In my Audi, they are way back by the firewall and down a bit in the engine compartment, so therefore not so easy to get to.
