2nd Generation Rams are known for wonky steering and I replaced my steering box and steering post and this piece put the finishing touch on getting the steering back tight and secure. Was very well built compared to others in this price range. Everything fit up nicely, but good to have a 2nd pair of hands to hold the bar in place to get a few bolts in to hold it.

This is a very nicely made kit. The stabilizer bar is well designed and very sturdy. The kit installed on my 1999 Dodge 2500 SLT (diesel) in about 20 minutes. The biggest issue you might have is a deep enough socket to be able to tighten up the support pillar. My impact socket only fit over about 3/4 of the nut but was enough to torque it up. The bolt holes in the stabilizer have nice slots and alignment was trivial. You need to follow the instructions concerning installation and mounting bolt tightening. My one beef was that the grease nipple was loose in the bearing housing and I didn’t notice that until I’d finished the installation and shot some grease into it. The two small grub screws need loctite on them and are fiddly to tighten. I don’t really see the purpose of them either as the bearing can’t escape and neither can the steering support spindle. There are torque specs for most of the bolts but not for the ones in the truck frame that hold the bushings in place. Crappy picture taken from under the truck after installation. I left the truck on the ground to do it. That actually made it easier to install the stabilizer as I could hold one end up with a foot while I put the bolts in the other end.

I’ve had this installed for about a month now. Fairly easy to install, everything was straight forward to put together, as instructed in the steps provided. The only issue I had and the only reason I gave this a 4 instead of 5 stars, is because one of the bolt holes didn’t line up good enough so I had to use my drill press (you can probably do this with a normal hand held drill and bit combo) to expand the hole by 3mm so everything would line up properly. Other than that, great product so far. I’ll update after a few more (around the 6 months of normal use mark) months on how everything is holding up. I’ll provide photos when I can remember to take some, of it installed.
*UPDATE* Still no photos, there are more than enough online for you to look at.
Long past due, but just over 2 years and well over 60K miles later (I drive this truck a lot), the product is still on the truck and still doing great. Bearing has no slop, just needs a fresh squirt or two of grease ever 3 or 4 months. No Dodge “death wobble” to speak of. If your curious if it will hold up on the long end, there’s your answer.

Brace used on 99 ram 2500 4×4 works but is low quality. Hardware Is grade 5 when it should be grade 8 or higher. Nut for steer box shaft is Chinese grade steel marredthe acceptance threads on initial install would spend money on the bd diesel brace next time

Made a decent amount of difference. Truck feels a lot more stable on the road. All took me an hour to put in, you tube install videos make it easier.

My ride is still factory and I have the factory sized tires on it. If you own one of these trucks, you need this. The steering gear itself is used on various other makes such as Chevy, but on Dodge it seems that the design of the idler arm puts a funky strain on the steering gear and that causes the loose steering. It also wears out the bushing in the steering gear housing and that causes it to start leaking power steering fluid. This part solves that. If you have loose steering and your steering gear is leaking, change your steering gear out when you do this upgrade. It probably wouldn’t hurt to change the sway bar bushings and links while your at it. It made a day and night difference in how my truck drove.

Night and day! Although I have 200 miles on a new steering gear, And it wasn’t slack anymore, But man, This brace is well constructed, welds are clean and show great penetration, The cast bearing hub seems to be of suitable quality, Install took minutes with air tools.
The instructions were very straight forward, Reminding me to be humble because of the sway bar positioning.
As for before and after, Even with minor wear in the drag link, and a bit in the upper ball joints, This tightened up the steering 60%.
For their price and the quality, And the fact that it is a functional upgrade to any Ram, It will also add life to your steering gear box, As it does not allow the sector shaft to walk side to side.. I’ll buy another when I pick up the second for my fleet.

Purchased and installed for a job on a 2002 Dodge ram 2500 Cummins. This part stiffens up the steering and helps to reduce wandering. After installation the truck feels alot more secure. It’s not a dead simple job to install but also not out if the realm of possibility for someone that can turn a wrench on the weekends. The quality is on par with the price and I saw nothing that would concern me. Overall I’m happy with what I paid, and the results.
Chances are however, if you have the dreaded ” death wobble” this part alone won’t fix your issue. Be sure to check/replace any other worn front suspension parts. Adding this brace will help in that case but you will be disappointed and it won’t be the fault of the part. I’ve been a mechanic awhile and I’ve seen it happen. The brace is meant to be a supplement to a front suspension that’s in serviceable condition. It’s not a sustitute for worn parts.

Made a significant improvement in the steering, when combined with a track bar conversion it’s a night and day difference. I’ve watched the steering gearbox as somebody else turned the wheel back and forth both before and after installation, there’s quite a bit of movement in the steering gearbox that should not be happening without the stabilizer.
Installation is simple, doesn’t really need instructions, which I can’t remember if it came with any because it’s been on for a while and I forgot.
For those that are unaware, this isn’t the only thing you should be doing to your steering, it’s one of several things. This, a track bar conversion, 08+ drag link and tie rod, Ram Rock Solid steering bushing, ball joints and wheel bearings that are in good condition (don’t get Moog, they’re no longer a high quality brand), and a new steering gearbox like Redhead or a Delphi box will make your steering feel like a newer model truck.
