I ordered this clay towel on May 30th and it arrived on June 1st, very fast, shipped via USPS, left at our front gate, was shipped in a large box with other items I had ordered, was intact and undamaged.
Comes in a case that is reusable but will just store it in a zip lock bag instead, is easier then trying to return it back to the skinny tube it came in. Is 12 square inches, on the small size. I clay bar my vehicles all the time but have never used a clay towel. I’m not sure on continued reuse since it is removing contaminates from your vehicles surface. Clay Bars are instead single use and are pretty much gone by the time you clay bar your car once.
Picture in pictorial on the web site is obvious that the size of the clay towel (folded four times) is not a 12×12 but probably more like a 24×24, which would be easier to hold onto. I’m pointing that out for Car Enthusiast’s like me that have arthritis in their hand so holding on to a towel that is 3”s square and manipulating it side to side and up and down without dropping it can be challenging. And once dropped must be disposed!
It is recommended you apply clay bar lubricant before using, but that lubricant is not included. I happen to have clay bar lubricant (brand not named so my review is not deleted) but I have also used a little car wash soap in a clean bucket of water (when I did not have any, but wanted to clay bar my car after washing it, with intention of polishing or waxing my car, especially my black Camaro with black pearl ghost rally stripe.
I question the claim that it will not leave scratches on the paint surface, as Old School Belief is that anything that has resistance while rubbing across a paint surface will leave micro scratches, which is obvious on my black Camaro surface, so I am very careful about using anything on my Camaro and in fact scratched the paint once, requiring my having to send it to a custom paint shop for repair.
After thinking about my normal detailing process I decided to first clay bay my car before using the clay decontamination towel. I would describe the first use as just okay, did slide over the surface easily but holding onto the towel without bunching it up proved challenging. It would be nice if the top side of the towel had loops to hook over your wrists, so in the event it dropped, did not fall on the ground.
To me, this is more like a high breed microfiber detailing towel, and am treating it as such. The suggested MSRP is pricey if that is what it really is meant to be, and even then, Professional Auto Detailers treat that as a single use consumable item. I am giving this towel a 3 Star rating, was not impressed because it was too small, hard to hold onto without creasing the towel during use to minimize uneven pressure, also question claim of 5 Times use over traditional clay bar because it contradicts practice of folding over clay bar to capture contaminants (you can see what is picked up inside the clay bar).
