While this is listed as a Studebaker V8 Fuel Pump… it is built incorrectly. The actuator arm is not in the correct position- for the eccentric on the camshaft to pump the diaphragm.
I was stuck with a dead car, so I had to “make it work”… so I disassembled the pump and modified the rod attached to the diaphragm- so the actuator arm was at the correct angle for the pump to work.
I have been told by others- that their “new” pumps were pumping weakly, or not pumping at all.
I have notified Carter of this… and hope they have made the necessary adjustments.

Poorly made, but can be made to work. Heat and bend the cam end appx. 1/4 inch.
Photos below are of inside of the timing cover with fuel pumps bolted up.
Photo 1. The original real USA Carter pump. Top line “R” is resting on cam eccentric
Photo 2. This Chinese junk that must be modified. Arm just barely reaches cam. Heat and bend slightly.
After this modification went from no vacuum when cranking to normal vacuum.
