I’ve been a long time user of clabbers and clay my cars at least once a year. I recently moved from the actual car bar to the towel style system. I had recently done a pretty contaminated SUV and needed a new one as it’s gone through a few uses now. I’m glad I stumbled upon this one from 55tech. Its large size is nice so I can do the job faster. Just make sure you use plenty of clay bar lube of some sort. The clay feels sticky (which is a good thing). The microfiber that it’s built on is nice quality, thick material. So far I’ve only used it on a test panel on my car and worked great. Can’t wait to use it on the next whole car.

The moment I received the Detailing Clay Towels by 55tech, I couldn’t wait to try them out.
The next morning, I quickly opened the package and prepared to use them before the sun began to beat down on my car, which would make detailing more challenging.
I had been wanting to experiment with a clay bar, and I felt that these towels would be a more user-friendly option for my first experience with clay bar detailing.
I chose to begin with the hood—it’s always the centerpiece, after all. The moment I started wiping it down, I could tell the surface was loaded with embedded grime; every pass of the microfiber caught slightly, like the dirt was holding on for dear life. After rinsing off the loose debris, I moved on with a foamy car shampoo, working carefully in sections. What really amazed me was how easily the clay towel lifted that grime—stuff I thought was permanently etched into the paint just melted away with a little lubrication and patience.

Works as intended as a clay bar substitute. Make sure to do it after a clean car or else you can risk marring the paint. I haven’t dropped it yet but it certainly seems a lot less sticky than a traditional clay bar, which would help it resist picking up permanent contamination.

I don’t understand how this works, but it did. I had some old fluid left over from a clay bars that I have purchased in the past, and I went ahead and used that spray with this towel. I found that this works 100 times better than the actual clay. I was able to remove contaminants on my vehicle and it left an extremely smooth feel to the touch and caused no scratching whatsoever. It was very easy to use and is an excellent value for the money and is now considered a must have. I will still buy clay sets just for the liquid, but I’m going to use this towel over and over. Five stars given.

No more small clay bars! — or so, that’s the promise. After washing the car earlier, I took some extra time to do a “clay” cleaning before waxing. The end result is that these towels do work … mostly.
Compared to using conventional clay bars, it didn’t pull up all of the deposits, but it did do the majority. However, the biggest benefit came in the time savings. The last time I did a full clay bar cleaning on my car, it took me an hour and a half. Using this towel, I was done in a half hour.
Getting 90% of the results in a third of the time is an excellent return and certainly helps tilt the favor for a DIY-er to get professional results without shelling out a lot of time or $$$ for a full wash/clay/wax detail job at a car wash.
