I purchased this 3/8″ wide sleeving to prevent vapor lock on my fuel line which is 5/16″ diameter (1966 Mustang) The fuel line has some bends in it as it makes its way to the carburetor from the fuel pump (red arrows). In order for this sleeve to fit over the fuel line, I had to straighten out the sleeving and blow through it to round out the shape. If you leave it flat and try to pull or push the sleeve on the fuel line, it won’t happen. I slipped the sleeve over the end of the fuel line – it was very difficult to just pull to through from the lead end. Starting from the carb, I had to push the sleeve on the fuel line and work it along the way, pushing & pulling the sleeve all along the way so it would travel towards the fuel pump. The aluminum outer coating ripped at one point (see yellow arrow), so I removed the sleeve, cut off the ripped part and started over – finally got it on all the way. I suppose had I ordered the 1/2″ diameter it would have slipped on easier but I think it’s supposed to have a snug fit. I’m thinking perhaps an asbestos, braided sleeve would have gone on easier and looked better. In any case, no vapor lock -so it is working as intended.
