When I first saw the price I was amazed at how they could be so cheap. When I installed them I understood. These will get the job done for a car you are not heavily relying on for transportation. They make the engine run rough and cold startup is pretty bad. I do not know how long these will last. But they get the job done for me as a college student who doesn’t drive much.

I thought I was getting a deal. I had trouble steering left on my John Deere. I purchased this for the sprocket and it was cheap only lasted a few turns. Just order the OEM parts. I ended up spending the same amount for the one part and was worth it.

My husband was able to repair our lawn mower with these parts.

The steering gear was the only item that fit my tractor. Nothing else did.

The steering on these smaller John Deere tractors has inherent problems. The original equipment performs and lasts well. Once the components wear and you have to replace them, the flaws show. The replacement parts seem to be of poorer quality. Wear in other parts may add to the problems.
I have an LA-115 and a D-170 and they have been failing yearly. I have a few things to pass along that are not proven, but seem to be helping. First, the steering components have a lot of play in them that allows more wear at the limits. To address this I have put thin washers in to reduce play in the flat gear. Second, some repair kits include nylon bushings for the shaft. When these wear the shaft can shift, changing the geometry and leaving room between gears. There are two bushings at and near the bottom. Third, there is another thin nylon bushing near the top of the shaft that wears badly and actually breaks and falls down the shaft. We filed the opening out wider to accommodate one of the bigger bushings from the lower shaft.
With bushings at 3 points on the shaft and a washer on the flat gear, things are tighter with less play. If they fail quickly again, then the quality of these replacement parts will come in to question. What a headache! But I can change parts in under an hour now. Repetition is a good teacher.
