I pulled the air filter out of my 2023 HR-V and brought it inside for comparison. In the photo, the top is this new air filter. On the bottom is the original Honda air filtert with 5K miles and 18 months since new.
They both have 23 pleats and the filter media looked identical to me. The plastic structures looked identical and they seemed to have the same rigidity.
The Femota filter fit into the Honda’s housing like it was made for it – which it was. I wouldn’t hesitate to use this filter again. The price is fair, and the quality is excellent.

This review is for the Femota CA12051 Engine Air Filter, replace for Honda Civic L4 2.0L (2016-2023, Naturally Aspirated Only), HR-V (2023).
I just got finished installing this air filter into my 2016 Honda Civic and it fits beautifully and seems very snug. I do like the product description of how the filter consist of 3 layers of high, low density, and a mixed filter media.
Obviously, I can’t break down in a scientific way exactly how it compares to the original OEM Honda filter, but the cost is very reasonable and this filter does seem to be of high quality in every way.
I’ve been using these after market filters for years with great success.

It fits fine, it doesn’t last longer than 5,000 miles. It is flimsy. For the price just avoid it.

OK. First things first. Yes. I should have changed my air filter sooner. The original pictured here was in the car for a year and a half and whisker over 13,000 miles.
As for this new filter, it appears to have great filter media (though different looking than the OEM media) and the frame seems very close to identical to the OEM filter I just took out.
There’s not much else to say about an air filter, but I don’t see why this one won’t perform well. The current $10 price tag is about 1/3 less than the cheapest I’ve seen the OEM Honda filter for.
At this point I recommend this filter.
If anything changes, as always, I will update this review and let you know.
