This injector is simple to use and does its job well. My only complaint is that it is too tall for some tight vertical spaces; my truck (2007 Dodge Ram with a 4.7 V8) is one such vehicle. With only a few inches between the cowl and low side port, this does not fit. Worked perfectly on my car though. I’ll likely pick up a set of 90º angled couplers and swap the coupler on this to get the truck.

Opened it up (unscrewed and removed inner barrel), added some dye, and screwed it back together. While screwing the two barrels together I had the hose and barrel pointed up to burp out the air (remove quick connect if installed). Once there was no air left in the line, installed quick connect and injected the 1/4oz of dye required.
I have not removed the quick connect just yet, as right now the injector will have a bit of a refrigerant charge and it will be under pressure. Not sure yet how I will deal with this without making a mess…a problem for another day.

The tool is poorly machined and finished. The threads are very rough and difficult to get started. The inner cylinder’s cap had a large aluminum burr on the lip of the hole drilled for the hose. I cleaned up the parts as best I could and rinsed everything off with brake clean, but after reassembling/disassembling once the threads were re-coated in aluminum dust and grit. It seems nearly impossible to keep the oil clean.
The inside of the inner cylinder (which holds the oil to be injected) is coated in a thick grease to lubricate the o-rings, and I have my doubts as to whether it is compatible with all the various compressor lubricants out there. The o-rings are black and brown; I expected green ones as found on all my other R-134A compatible tools. Again, I question if they are compatible with oil or refrigerant.
I spent about an hour cleaning and fighting with the threads and ultimately I’m giving up. It isn’t worth the risk of contaminating my A/C system with metal junk. I gladly would have paid for a higher quality tool but have been unable to find one as of now. Not even going to bother cleaning out the Denso oil I wasted to return it as it isn’t worth my time.

This works exceptionally well and easily allows oil refill to the AC system. The only downside is its a little bit of guesswork filling it up. While it is marked and graduated on the side, the doesn’t work so well for filling the canister so I would recommend using a measuring cup or vial to first measure the oil then add to canister. If you add more than 2oz you will not be able to get the components together and will need to drain some back out and try again. That being said, it is nicely made and I’m very happy with the unit.

Unit performed very well, bled air from hose, installed quick coupler (which worked flawlessly), injected 2 oz. PAG oil in two vehicles, both Fords, 1999 F-250 & 2001 Excursion, both original compressors on 7.3 diesel engines. I like the engraved scale (was selling point) overall fit & finish is good, have serviced both w/freon in past years but first-time adding oil. Good investment, quality tool that works.

It is a poorly machined aluminum tool. It has fine threads that are loose and rough. Danger of cross-threading is significant. Careful starting of filling threads is a must. This tool will do the job. I would have been willing to pay more for higher quality tool. (If I could have found one – like the high dollar blue and yellow professional store)

I bought this item on Amazon: The most common uses for an oil injector are:
1. You’ve got a leak. You want to put in some oil and/or UV dye. Or:
2. You flushed and recharged your system but didn’t put in enough oil.
The little cans that have some oil and refrigerant work but they’re less flexible and more trouble to use.
This tool now comes with an instruction sheet. The markings are engraved. Solid quality, no reason to think it won’t last 20 years or more. Expanded instructions:
1. Start the car A/C system and set to maximum cool. Leave a door open and/or heat on in car to keep the system working at full capacity.
2. Set the injector to a bit more than the amount of oil you want to put in and take off the top. Pour in oil that’s right for your refrigerant up to the bottom of the threads.
3. Screw the top on and screw in the threaded plunger until oil starts to come out of the hose thus purging air. Put on the R-134 adapter — or another type (not furnished) as appropriate.
4. Connect to the low pressure service port. If possible keep the body above the port while injecting so any remaining bubbles of air don’t go in.
5. Steadily screw in the plunger until all the oil is injected. Take a minute or so doing this — you want the oil dispersed in the refrigerant.
6. Disconnect — done!
Wipe off oil on the injector. The box is very sturdy and would be a good place to store it so it won’t get dirty.
