Comes with everything you need to hook up a small amp. All cords where long enough. the bright red color looks great. Cable was a little thin but it is only 8 Guage. Quality and price match. And it functions as it should

Overall a good deal, but you definitely need to order a size up in order to get the actual gauge you need. I think they may getting away with calling it an 8 gauge kit because the ring terminals and fuse holder included are for 8 gauge wire. The ground wire is not too short. For those that are new to how electricity works in a car, you are supposed to ground to the chassis, not run it all the way to the battery. Almost every other electronic device in your car is grounded the same way. Even the engine grounds to the chassis.
The bad:
I ordered the 8 Gauge and, as others have said, the actual wire is much smaller than 8 gauge. I used 10 Gauge strippers on it and didn’t nick a single strand of wire. It also matched the size of some 10 Gauge I had left over from a previous install. The speaker wire that comes with this kit is also under sized with extra insulation. It’s closer to the size of wire I would expect in a cheap boombox. The ring terminals and Fuse holder are for 8 gauge wire so you will have to strip double the length and fold it over to make it fill the hole and get a good crimp (not the best choice but it’s better than not folding and getting a loose crimp which is dangerous) or buy some 10 Ga ring hardware. Also, the included fuse looks like it would be way oversized for an application that would use 10Ga power wire. I’d advise getting a proper sized fuse so it will burn out instead of blowing out your amp or starting a fire if anything goes wrong.
The Good:
This is still a pretty good deal for a long piece of 10 Ga and an RCA cable. Since they’re passing 10 Ga wire off as 8 Ga, they put a super thick insulation on this. It will be much less susceptible to shorting out due to rubbing while being pulled through holes and under panels during install and wear less over time from rubbing on the edge of something due to normal vibrations. The kit also includes rubber grommets so, if you prefer to drill a hole in your firewall instead of cutting into the rubber around an existing cable pass-through, you will not have to worry about the metal edge rubbing through the insulation. I can’t really attest to the quality of the RCA cables. I hooked them up and they work. My subs are in too large of a box right now so they are boomy and the sound quality sucks so the RCA cables don’t make a difference. After I put them in a box with the right airspace I will find out.
Overall it’s a decent kit. Just make sure you order a size up and make sure you get a properly sized fuse. Don’t expect the guys at Wal-Mart to know what they’re talking about. Research it or go to an audio shop and ask.

Boss products always a good buy for your home built audio system. Not winning any awards but gets the job done. Still have parts left in box 5yrs later.

I purchased this when I got an amplifier for a ford fiesta in 2009, and again for my peugeot in 2012 as this kit is perfect for the job required.
The kit comes with ample wiring, and trunking, as well as everything else you need to wire up an amp.
Could maybe do with one or 2 more crimp connectors in the pack, but they’re easy enough to get hold of regardless, a good little buy, and definately value for money as it has a simple wiring diagram on the back if required.

This was a good kit for adding a subwoofer. The worst item in the kit is the black flex loom as it is thin and really unusable if it was folded. It is too small of a diameter to wrap all your wires and probably just made to cover your remote wire and speaker wire. Power will not fit in it with the other wires too.

Easy install and great cables. tie raps were small but everything works and it came with extra cable

Amazing kit for the price, can’t five wiring for this over any where. Very quality wires and has everything you need for a sub. Car toys charged me $60 for 4 gauge power wire alone

I was a little leary buying this kit after reading all of the reviews. Many commented on the wire size. It is true that the wire size is significantly smaller than #4 awg. The wire size is exactly #8 awg which has about 1/2 the current carrying capacity of #4 awg. However, I only needed #8 awg so it is okay for my installation. If I hadn’t read the reviews first then I would have ordered the #8 kit and been very disappointed. The wire itself (besides from being undersized) appears to be good copper, braided wire. It has good insulation and is very flexible. The ground wire is also #8 and basically the same as the power wire but colored black instead of red. It is only 3 feet long but this is adequate as it only needs to be bolted to the vehicle frame close to the amplifier. The wiring terminals are a little light. I recommend getting better terminals at Auto Zone or somewhere else. The amplifier turn-on wire is adequately sized. The RCA cables appear to the good as well. I didn’t have any problem with the RCA terminals as some others had noted. The lengh of the wires were adequate for my installation (1990 Chevy Truck, standard cab). The fuse holder was a decent quality fuse holder but the terminals were designed for #4 awg not the #8 awg wire that came with the kit. I found a fuse holder at Radio Shack exactly like it (paid $15 for fuse; $22 for wiring kit) but it came with inserts to allow it to be used for both #8 and #4 awg. The supplied fuse was 60 amp which is a little too big for #8 awg. I bought a package of two 40 amp fuses for $4.29 at Auto Zone. I will use the other fuse hoder and 60 a fuse somewhere else or sell on Craig’s List. Out of all the kit, I used the following: power wire, ground wire, amplifier turn on wire, the RCA cables, a grommet, and some ty-raps. All in all, still a better deal at $22 than paying $50 plus somewhere else.
