I have used Bosch filters on my 3 cars over the course of 10+ years. And my oldest car is just shy of 240,000 miles with zero issues. You cannot beat the quality of this filter for the money.

PS: non of my cars are a Toyota or a Honda. So, there’s that 😀

  2. Amazon Customer

So this filter is actually identical to the Purolator PureOne (Purolator is a joint venture between Bosch and Mann+Hummel), which in the realm of oil filter enthusiasts (yeah, there is such a thing) is regarded as a pretty decent filter. Purolator also makes the OEM Mopar filter, though the Mopar filter is a rebranded Purolator Premium Plus.

According to a tear-down of identically-sized filters, the Bosch Filtech / Purolator PureOne had the most filtration media, and has a stem-based bypass valve with extra pleats. Nice.

    There’s its pedigree.

As for how good it is? I’ve gone through three of them, and haven’t had any concerns. They go on nice and smooth, and don’t blow up. This filter is built like a tank, and I think I’m ready to convert from my unnatural devotion to Mobil 1 filters.

Good basic name filter for good price. Black color looks like it belongs on car rather than orange, red, yellow, etc. Can’t understand why people will spend 2 and 3 times as much for rare or no actual additional benefit to engine life. Like changing clean oil at 3K instead of waiting for a little darkening at 5K. What have you accomplished over average ownership period? You spent a few hundred extra you could have saved for your retirement.

  4. J. Adams

Bosch is known as a quality filter and the current price is great. I bought four. Threads are high quality, it spun on easily.

This is not the fault of Bosch but I must say that using large oil filters like this on my ’97 Explorer 5.0 can be a bit of a challenge when removal comes up. Have to remove the radiator shroud on one side which isn’t that big of deal. The plus is getting a lot more filtration media in a larger filter. Some are tiny.

Buying used cars is also interesting. I change the oil immediately and find really dirty oil at times. It is clear that a lot of engine failures are caused by owners ignoring the #1 rule of car maintenance – Change your engine oil.

  5. Captain Gaseous

Application: 2006 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.

After using Motorcraft FL-820S (F1AZ-6731-BD) Oil Filters for the past 4 years, I decided to spend a little extra on a “Premium” filter, and was not disappointed to say the least.

Compared to the Motorcraft, the Bosch 3410 is a beast. It’s heavy, like a brick. Looks identical to the Mobil 1 M1210-A filter, but has a different label.

I spun one of these filters onto my car and poured in 6 quarts of Mobil 1 Advanced Full Synthetic High Mileage 5w-20 motor oil, and now the valve train and bearings run silent, even on cold winter mornings. The Silicone anti-drainback valve is worth its weight in gold on the Ford Modular Engines, especially the 5.4L ones where oil flow can be questionable even on a good day.

If you’re wondering about Bosch Premium Oil Filters, just buy one and give it a try.

  6. Rust Never Sleeps

Good filter and definitley well worth the $4.50 I paid for them. Not worth the $18.50 they jumped to between me ordering and receiving. For that price you can go down to your local autoparts store and get a better filter for less.

  7. Customer Review

Mobile One oil is the gold standard for oil in my opinion, and I would often pay extra for the Mobil One filter to go with it.

Then I learned that Mobile One filters only filter to 35 microns, which is inferior in my view. They say they do it because it doesn’t inhibit flow, which makes sense theoretically, but I’m more concerned about debris in the engine. Mobile One says use a lower micron rating and change your oil more frequently. But in my research, higher micron filters such as Bosch and Wix do not impede oil flow.

So I did a deep dive researching filters – not just microns, but filter capacity, amount & durability of media, spring or no spring, gasket quality, bypass mechanism, etc. I even took apart several filters, some new, some used, to examine parts.

I concluded that Bosch is my favorite. I also like Wix XP, but the Bosch is actually less expensive. The regular Wix filters are good too, but the Wix XP has some upgraded components.

But from now on, I’m just getting Bosch right here on Amazon (cheaper than the auto parts store), and also using Amazon brand synthetic oil (in tests, it performed almost as well as Mobil One, but less expensive).

One final suggestion – consider getting a Fumoto valve. It’s like replacing your drain plug with a ball valve. The Fumoto valve has so many advantages – change your oil quickly and without tools, eliminate the mess when changing oil, you don’t have to wait for your engine to cool down, you can let out just a little bit of oil if you need to, and you don’t have to worry about the guys at the shop overtightening or stripping out your drain pan plug.

  8. Avian

The oil filter is wider than the Motorcraft filter it replaced. It fits but the clearance with the lower radiator hose is tight. I’ll look for a narrower-body filter next time.

  9. T. Sterne

The Bosch Premium Oil Filter is a 20-micron filter, with a long-life Silicone Anti-Drainback Valve. Black color dissipates heat. Cellulose filtering medium has well-spaced pleats for maximum flow, and metal end caps for strength.
Due to the excellent 20-micron filter rating, change intervals should be 5,000 – 7,000 miles.
Use with conventional, blended, or full synthetic engine oils.
For extended drain intervals, you’ll need the Bosch Distance+ Oil Filter.
For MAXIMUM engine protection, get a FILTERMAG #SS365PR Magnet Kit.

  10. Rust Never Sleeps

The bosch premium oil filters are exactly the same product as the Purolator ONE with a different coat of paint. Good filters on the inside and outside.
