Installed these on my Ford F250 (diesel) front end since they came recommended by several review websites. They were a great fit of course and, since my original shocks had lost all their mounting rubber, these were considerably better. To mount the top nut, you will need a 6 or 7mm allen wrench for the end of the shock mount to keep the shock from spinning. Otherwise, I didn’t even need to remove the wheel housing… just had to make enough space to hold the allen wrenches. A 3/4 inch ratchet end wrench made all the difference in the world to make this easier. In retrospect, I would leave the zip tie on the shock for installation until the bottom was attached and the top prepared. Then when it decompresses the top mount slides right into the hole. Some say you should charge the shock before hand by compressing and decompressing it, but I didn’t see the need. Overall, a great replacement shock to OEM.

I purchased these as replacements for my factory shocks (159K miles). I installed these on my 2006 Ford F-250 Superduty Lariat edition.
Removing the old shocks was easier than I thought, but it’s a bit cramped accessing/removing the top nut on the shock. Recommend using plenty of penetrating oil. Installing the new shock required a small jack to compress the shock enough to get it on the mounting bolt. I also recommend having a rubber mallet to knock the shock onto the mounting bolt. This helps getting the new shock onto the mounting bolt. It took about 45 mins per front shock to remove and install. I left the front tires on and just turned the wheel to the far right/left.
I also replaced the rear shocks. The ride with the new Bilstein shocks all around is smooth and easy. A very nice ride. I recommend these as a replacement on the 2006 Ford F-250.

Installed these on the front of my Diesel Super Duty and I can say….HUGE IMPROVEMENT over the oem shocks…. My OEM gas shocks were completely worn out at 50,000 miles, to the point they did not have and pressure left in them… Bilstein has always been my shock of choice…They may cost considerably more then say Monroe but the performance and longevity of these shocks make them pay for them self over time….. With 4 of these, my truck rides so much better then it did when it was new. These should be installed at the factory…. Great shock!

No quality, wasted my money. I don’t recommend

Stiff, controllable ride. Good ground contact and OK ride quality. They handle the front weight well.
However, the design of having to use a key on the top of the center of the stud to stop rotation while you tighten the top nut is ridiculous. The old shocks had a nut integrated on the bottom bushing portion that you could secure to move the nut on top. This Bilstein design is such a huge flaw. Why would you design something like this that you can not use a socket to tighten?
With the clearances on my vehicle, I was able to contort a tool on top, and then take a wrench to turn the nut 1/4 to 1/2 a turn at a time, and the studs are pretty long. This also raises the question on to how do I verify I am using the correct torque on the fastener? Most people will not be able to with this design.
This alone is enough to never have me go through this again to install this shock. When it is time to remove and replace, I will probably end up just cutting them out and replacing with a different brand.

Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed. My stock 2015 F350 Crew Cab diesel dually had 105K miles on the original shocks and I thought they were becoming marginal in their effectiveness. I ordered a full set of four Bilstein 4600 series and installed all 4 simultaneously. The ride is drastically improved when driving 5 miles per hour over rough terrain in my yard (grass). On the highway, they provide a slightly better dampened ride than my old stockers. When pulling approximately 12K lbs fully loaded bumper pull trailer with the best hitch/anit-sway system you can buy, these shocks ride exactly the same as my old stock Motorcraft shocks.
I tow this same trailer every other weekend so I have the trip to Hot Springs and every single bump memorized. KYB MonoMax are much cheaper and provide the exact same ride as these famous Bilsteins. I also have a 7.3L Excursion that I upgraded from Monroe Reflex to KYB MonoMax, so I know the shocks very well.
They don’t make the 5100 series for a stock height dually, or else I would have bought them. KYBs will be the replacements for these shocks when they wear out.

Es el tamaño y ensamble igual al amortiguador original o de fabrica con la calidad de BILSTEIN y un poco más firmes;

I could not find a pair of shocks that would fit my 2009 f250 2WD since the truck has a 2.5 leveling kit in the front the pass shocks I had order where too long after doing some research I decided to purchase the Bilstein (24-197779) shocks and they fit perfectly and the install was easy the truck used to bottom out on pot holes really annoying and horrible to drive especially since it’s a heavy frame , after installing these shocks the ride improved a lot !!!! I highly recommend these shocks
