A fairly decent inline resistor to help compensate the low power draw of an LED that may cause an error code in some vehicles. These are exposed metal housings and will get pretty hot so, mounting them in an area that can cool them down even a little is ideal.

On a 2010 toyota rav 4, they allow an led high beam to be used, but kill the DRL feature, so they don’t do everything they are supposed to do.
