My mechanic installed this into my 2003 Ford Explorer, mainly because electrical systems scare me. Based on the instructions, I feel I could have installed it myself – but decided to err on the side of safety. I did this because the vehicle had a long history of the battery draining and requiring a jump start if I didn’t use it for a month. (It’s a utility vehicle – not my daily driver.). Since I installed it, I’m not seeing that problem anymore. It can sit for weeks with the disconnect turned off, and I don’t see any lowering of power that I was used to.
The remotes are small enough that adding one to the Explorer keychain was no big deal. I don’t use it for security since the vehicle isn’t worth a lot – only when it is sitting in my garage for a while. I’ve noticed that sometimes the remote only works if I am at most 20 feet from the car in my kitchen, which is three steps up from the garage floor. This may have to do with the hood of the vehicle being very thick and heavy metal . It always works if I am within 10 feet and standing in the garage.
One last thing is that this disconnect extends about an inch and a half from the top of the battery when installed – so if your battery has low clearance below the hood, it might be an issue.
Only one real issue – the clock needs to be reset after turning the power back on, and the trip odometer resets to zero. Neither is a big deal, just something to know in advance.
I’ll knock off one star for the intermittent remote, but otherwise this disconnect does what is advertised and does it well. I can strongly recommend it if you need to stop your battery from draining from internal power draws.

Je l’ai installé sur ma Mercedes, et je dois dire que ce produit fonctionne bien. Je n’utilise pas souvent cette voiture et il faut savoir qu’il y a des composants qui vide la batterie, depuis que j’ai ce coupe batterie plus de soucis, je n’ai plus besoin de recharger la batterie.

Do not recommend buying this unless you want to risk it. Device caught on fire while trying to start it up with the remote control. Luckily my vehicle was saved unless you want a big of flames on your vehicle. Try on old models first also, I followed the instructions, correctly
