Descrição do Produto: Bar’s Leaks Block Seal Head Gasket Fix

2. Agite bem a embalagem do Bar’s Leaks Block Seal Head Gasket Fix antes de usar.

Características do Produto:

This stuff is absolutely AMAZING!!! I really didn’t think it would work bcz it did say for “small” leaks, (mine was NOT small) but with a $1,500 estimate to fix my 2006 Chrysler Town & country with 128k miles,(def not worth it to me) I wanted to try this product first before I broke down to buy a newer car. I was so skeptical since there were mixed reviews, but most were positive so I ordered it. First off my vans “symptoms” were massive coolant leak (over a gallon a day), over heating, oil mixing with coolant, heat only blowing out cold air. I did not have white smoke blowing out of tailpipe or milky film on oil cap or steam from radiator. The coolant leak (with oil mixed in it) and temperature reading HOT within 4-5 minutes of driving, & engine driving rough we’re my biggest issues. My husband’s friend is a mechanic, so I know he was being honest, did find the HG leak also.. it would have cost alot more to fix had we brought it somewhere else. The $1500 was a favor..but still too much for an older van.. anyways, so I got the product, & my radiator was empty bcz it all leaked out (but it does say u can add it with coolant already in the radiator/no need to drain out) so I poured the whole can in while engine was cool, then topped it off with antifreeze & squeezed on the hoses to get any air out. I started the van & left it running for 20 minutes with heat & fan on HIGH. I Could still see it leaking underneath but not nearly as much (wait it gets better!) So I let engine cool again & topped it off with more antifreeze, then took it for a slow 20 min ride around town with heat still on high.. it was NOT overheating! Heat was HOT again! When I got home & shut van off, I looked underneath and the leaking had completely stopped!! You don’t need to do this next step, but I went ahead to get an oil change on day 12 & added one container of the”Bars leaks engine repair 2 part formula” for added protection (not sure if the stuff really works good or not but I liked the reviews & figured it could only help) I could not believe this stuff in a can did all of that so easily! This stuff is great! 5 stars from me! I saved so much money! I am now on day 16 and everything is still going great! No issues at all. I am still a little bit skeptical on how long it will work for, but I’ve read that some people got another 50-70,000 more miles out of their cars after using it before they had to use it again!.. so I am definitely a believer in this product! I’ll see how long it lasts. If any problems arise I will be sure to come back on to post about it..but for now all is great! Van is running better than it has in a LONG time!!👍

This stuff actually worked for my old Jeep 2007 Wrangler JK with more than 260k km (V6 3.8L). I had a leak in the timing chain cover gasket and also an other leak at the intake manifold gasket. Followed the instructions on the container and no more visible leaks after only 1 day of running the product. Also, my “Long term fuel trim” for Bank 1 and Bank 2 used to be around +12% and they are now under 4% at idle. I usually don’t have a lot of faith in “magic potions”, but “Bar’s Leaks 1111 Head Gasket Fix” did a good job so far for my V6. Used the entire bottle for a 12 Liter coolant capacity, the stuff is kind of a bit thick and has an orange colour with copper flakes inside.

  6. Brian W

Good stuff for a fix on my Subaru, we’ll see how long it last on the coolant leak.

    It worked splendid !

But I will say the leak was a minor one.

I can attest my car stopped overheating and I was able to drive it out of the parking garage.

Days earlier it was not drivable.

I shook it poured it directly into the radiator and closed radiator.

Let it sit in there for about an hour.
Turned on the car and it did not overheat.
    Very easy to use!
Well worth the money because I’m looking at a 3k repair and hopefully this will allow me to run it for a few months.

  9. Stack⠀Overflow

It’s still working 3 months [Edit: 4 months ( 2012-12-17)] after I used it on my civic, which had a leaking head gasket. My mechanic said it would be a 1100 fix (woah!). He suggested that I use a liquid sealer instead. I did a search on Amazon for “head gasket sealer” and happened upon Bar’s, and boy, am I glad I did!

My first application wasn’t successful. My car ran hot again after only a few days — possibly because I attempted a 1000-mile drive to Yellowstone from Cali a few days after I used the product. Most sources I’ve researched say to *go easy* on your drives (don’t rev it up too much) after using the product for at least a couple of weeks to allow it time to cure. So, after my second attempt, I took care to not drive my car too hard for the first two weeks or so.

Also noteworthy is, on my second attempt, the coolant was almost empty when I used the product (on my first attempt, the coolant had been full). This might also be a factor in the successful use of the product the second time around.

The takeaway from all this is:
To give Bar’s the best chance at sealing your head gasket, (1) drain your coolant before using this product (despite the instructions saying it isn’t necessary). There are coolant flushing kits such as the Prestone AFKIT0 Prestone Universal Flush and Fill Kit that you can use to remove the coolant. (2) Go easy on your drives for a least a couple of weeks after using the product.

There you have it. I hope this product works as well for you as it did for me. Good luck! (I will update this review periodically to report back on how Bar’s is holding up.)

    [Update 2012-12-17]
It’s been 4 months after I used Bar’s and that needle is holding rock steady where it should be. The coolant level, as far as I can tell, is the same as it was when I topped it off 4 months ago. I’ve already put 11,000 miles on it since I used “Bar’s Leaks Head Gasket Fix.” All signs point to this product working as a permanent fix as claimed. I’ll update this review in a couple of months or when Bar’s no longer works, whichever comes first. *fingers crossed*

    [Update 2012-12-28]
Crud. My car overheated again yesterday when I was making a 250-mile drive. On this last trip, I had to rev up my engine to over 4000 rpm a good part of the trip (I usually shift gears between 2500-3000 rpm) but revving up the engine is hard to avoid when my underpowered (109 horsepower) car needs to climb some steep hills. It seems that the Bar’s Leaks won’t hold up on long, hard drives. I’m extremely disappointed, but still, I’ve had a good run with it the past 4-1/2 months. I’m going to give it another go. At 22 a pop, it’s still better than shelling out over a thousand for a car that’s reaching the end of its lifeline anyway. Product rating downgraded from 5-stars to 4 stars.
