I wish I had if found this product earlier
I am currently charging my 8 volt golf buggy battery’s as my current charger not charging.
This is very intelligent and accurate
I can set it on smart charge and it will work out how fast it skow to charge battery
    Quality metal and made thankyou

I was surprised at the compact size. It works as advertised. Efficiently recharged my 8 volt golf cart batteries and switched over to trickle charge without overcharging or overheating the batteries.

I really liked this lead acid battery charger. it is small and compact, and the LCD panel is black lettering with bright blue backlighting. The alligator clips were large enough for car batteries and small enough to still connect easily to the much smaller 7Amp hr. sealed lead acid batteries. It had intelligent charging and float charging characteristics that were ideal for sealed lead acid UPS battery packs.
    However;

I live in the high mountain deserts of Wyoming, so the high altitude plus t low humidity levels make for lots of static electric discharges. Especially in cold or winter weather. These tiny EMP events are just daily life for me. So grounding , and proper circuit design is important.
This charger has a non polarized plug. That means either side of the input circuitry of this charger can be at the 120VAC potential coming from the wall. And this charger does not weigh enough to have an isolation power transformer, so it must be using other methods to insure that the metal case does not become hot wrt (with respect to) ground.

I suspect that the non polarized AC power cord plus some unknown circuit design flaw, contributed to the charger failure which occurred when I tried to turn the unit off.
It was working properly and had been for over a week. Right up until I touched the power switch on the back of the unit. This time, as soon as I touched the rocker switch, I felt a static shock, –and at the same instant I saw the LCD blink once and then it just went kind of nuts.

Apparently the static discharge, had entered the primary AC power switch, and somehow jumped clear over into the low power, and logic side of the charger circuitry. Proper design usually prevents stuff like this, and so I believe This either killed the microcontroller outright, and/or corrupted the microcontroller’s memory for the logic functions of the charger. Scratch one $40 charger. I sent it back DOA.

I know everything is made in China these days, but do they have to make everything so cheaply that it doesn’t have things like MOV’s and Line input filtering? China please get a clue! Quality is important.

This seems to happen a lot with stuff made in China. It kind of reminds me of how everyone used to make fun of the stuff that came from Japan in the 50’s and 60’s. But Japan wised up fast, and now makes some of the best electronic equipment on the planet. China I know you can do better than this. And I am willing to pay more for better quality.

Update: 2023 May 8. I still have not received a refund for this item which was returned in mid April.
Update 2023 May 13 retracted last line. Still waiting for refund. Or emaiil from seller. or something.

Seems to be working great. I have a golf cart that’s been sitting for a year full of 8 V batteries. Similar to another person in the review section. I’m having to charge them one at a time to get the charger to recognize voltage so that the golf cart charger will work. I will update the review once I have all batteries charged. So far so good.

Worked great. Had a ezgo 36v golf cart. Batteries were dead. Not enough power to get my charger to work. Plug this charger in and it knew exactly what battery and voltage it was. Left it over night. Next day my charger was charging the golf cart on its own. Definitely would recommend it.

I bought this charger over a year ago to charge and balance my 8 volt batteries in my golf cart. Most battery chargers are for 6 or 12 volt batteries. I needed something in 8 volt range capable of charging my 8 volt golf cart batteries up to enough voltage for my golf cart battery charger to kick on. This did the job. I would definitely recommend this charger

    *** A Bit Of A Backstory***

I have a golf cart with (6) 8 volt batteries. This is our first electric golf cart, we have only had gas in the past, but my wife liked how quiet the electric ones were, so here we are. I was unaware that the factory charger that came with the cart didn’t keep sending a constant charge to the batteries, instead it charged them fully and then turned off. As a result, the batteries were totally drained over the winter, due to no use. We only found this out when we went to start it last weekend to move to our campground, and we got nothing. I applied a voltage meter to the batteries and I was getting approximately .42 volts.

As almost everyone does when they have a new problem to solve, I went to the internet for advice. The various posts I read informed me that not only does the factory charger not continue to charge once a full charge is reached, it won’t charge if there is no detectable voltage. As a result, I would need to charge the batteries with an external charger before the factory charger would work. ARRGGHH!

Most chargers on the market are 12-volt chargers, but since I have 8-volt batteries, most of the posts I read cautioned charging an 8-volt battery with a 12-volt charger, due to overheating, etc. My previous charger is not a 12-volt charger, it is a 6-volt charger which was not a overheating concern, instead it was a “lack of juice” problem. I couldn’t get enough voltage into the battery to allow the factory charger to register enough voltage to charge as it’s designed to do.

All of that backstory was provided to explain why the AUTTGINN 6/8/12/14/16/24V Battery Charger has been so awesome for me. The ability to select 8-volts to charge my batteries was truly a game changer. The digital display told me how many volts were currently in the battery as well as if the battery was at 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% charged throughout the process. It was relatively quick, I was able to charge my batteries to 50% each in approximately 20 – 30 minutes for each battery. I was initially upset when I first took it out of the box and connected it, because it wouldn’t read anything. It just turned on, but no actual charging was taking place. I then realized that I needed to disconnect the batteries from each other and only charge one at a time, then it worked like a charm.

I know one reviewer wasn’t happy with the length of the charging cables. I agree, they aren’t that long, but fortunately they were long enough for my needs, however I can see a car or tractor battery might be a different story. The same reviewer also was mildly annoyed by having to set the voltage each time it was moved to a different battery, but again, it didn’t seem to slow down my process.

Bottom line, I purchased this on sale for under $40 and I couldn’t be happier with the quality and reliability of the AUTTGINN 6/8/12/14/16/24V Battery Charger.

This is a great little ‘smart’ charger. I was able to restore 5 out of 6 golf kart 8V batteries that had frozen. It saved me a $1000 dollars in replacement cost.

  10. Ash Fowler

Worked great right out of box. Instructions a little off but if you have used other chargers before no problem operating this one.
