Pros: Easy to use. Virtually weather proofs and permanently conditions all the leather I’ve ever used it on in a one-and-done application. It helps to keep heat in my winter boots. Inexpensive.
Cons(?): Suede and other soft leathers will stiffen, darken and loose any fuzzy quality they may have permanently. Think melting beeswax into the leather and consider the result. Whatever just popped in your head is exactly what will happen, which is a con only if you don’t want that.

I work in auto body shop and I use this stuff on every pair of work boots I purchase. This stuff is the only thing that really keeps your feet dry in the snow and rain. A lot of other treatments I’ve used work great on leather but leak at the stitching. This stuff is great because you can cake it on the seams, heat it up and it absorbs into the seams. I live in Chicago and this winter has been brutal and non stop and this stuff has kept my feet dry the whole season thus far. You do need to reapply and maintain the waterproofing. But after the first initial application you can just rub a quick coat with a brush and put a heat gun to it and you’re good to go. Salt water seems to eat away at the application with enough time so I put another coat on when I start to see the salt rings on the leather. What’s also great about this stuff is that it makes leather look new again when you apply it to older leather boots. My old motorcycle boots look newer when you put some of this stuff on. It also works on dress boot, NOT suede, and improves the appearance of the leather. I was worried that the wax might stain my jeans but when the stuff is cold it really doesn’t rub off from the boot to the denim. And the best thing about it is that it’s natural and will wash off if any happens to get onto your pants. The more waterproofing you need, the more coats you put on with heat in between coats. I highly recommend this to anyone who has to work in wet, cold, dirty, icy, snowy, salty environments like myself.

I bought My 1st can of this due to all the good reviews I read about it, but initially it was a letdown as it was so hard to work with,-imagine the thickest heavy weight axle grease half frozen that You ever encountered and that would describe the kind of thing You’re dealing with here. I read several suggestions as how different Reviewers explained how they applied it, & here’s a couple of ways I did Myself. I tried heating it using a Heat Gun to warm it when it was still in the Can & Appling it with a sponge brush & or rag but that didn’t do it for Me. On a hot Summers Day I set the Can on My Toolbox in the Truck Bed in direct Sunlight for around an Hour, (& it was really Hot Outside) & it barely softened it up > this is in a metal Can with the lid on it in direct Sunlight & it barely even began to melt it – still not what I was looking for, but I’m not a quitter by nature so I pressed on. I actually sat the Boots I was working on in the direct Sunlight & left them there till the Leather was so hot You could barely touch it, then I gouged My fingers into the Sno-Seal, scooped it out & just began rubbing it into the Leather Boots with My fingers only-no rag or brush, & that was the best method that worked for Me. The Boot Leather was so hot that while working the Sno-Seal in it was actually semi blistering My fingers, but it worked best for Me. The Leather actually soaks it in with this method more so than any other way I tried previously. It is a good Product, just a little tough to work with, but that’s what it takes in some instances, the easiest way is not always the best way & may not give the best results either ! I Hope My suggestion will be of Help to Someone else. Best, PawPaw C

I’ve used this for conditioning/waterproofing boots as well as waxing canvas jackets. It does darken the leather or fabric noticeably, but I really like the look. Unlike other competitor products (amazon rejected my last review for naming them, but think of wax from an aquatic animal and a shoe grease with a name starting with “H”), this doesn’t require stirring up, preheating, excessive dry time, or time for a strong smell to dissipate.
SnoSeal really does seem to provide good conditioning and water resistance on leather. It was also very easy to apply to canvas as well as to melt into the canvas with a heat gun. It didn’t leave any greasy film for me and hasn’t needed any touch ups for a year on my boots and a month on my canvas jackets so far.
The price is fair for the results and ease of use. I would consider buying again and maybe would step up to the larger container to buy in bulk vs the 7.5oz. That one gives good coverage for a pair or two of boots, but it goes fast when working with anything larger.
