My car lost the terminal cover somehow. I feel really uncomfortable because a wrench accidently short it, in the best case you will be replacing one expensive main fuse. I tried to get a new one from dealer at cringe worthy price but was told it was discontinued.
I ordered these with no intention of removing the terminals. I cut a slit at the tube part and fit it on then added a cable tie. The material feels better than expected. The car looks a lot better and now safer to work on. I am not sure with the any kind of terminal on it would even fit through the tiny tube. If you are making cables of your own put it through before crimping, then that would makes sense
The whole piece can be scaled a little bigger, but you just have to try it and see.

Perfect Fit over your standard car battery Terminals. Now since my car battery terminals were already on the cable I just cut open the narrow end of these plastic tops and slid it over the cable as compared to removing the battery terminal from the connector and this worked perfect.,

I knew I was going to have to cut it to put it on the wire before I bought it. These are made to install before you put the terminal connector on it but since my connector was already on, I planned on cutting it. It fits over the terminal perfectly though and doesn’t flop around on it. Exactly what I wanted.

They are made very well. The problem I have is that they need to slide onto the wire. That is ideal, however I did not want to pull my wires out of the vehicle. I should have sent them back and bought the snap on type. I did not realize that they did not snap on until I had them cut out of the blister pack. I ended up cutting them and tie wrapping them back on. I suppose the next thing that will happen is snag my finger on the tie wrap.

The cover material is flexible nice thick rubbery vinyl. It is well made. If you have post type battery terminals the body of the cover looks large enough to accommodate the usual clamp style connector. To install the cover you will have to remove the clamp from your cable and feed the cable through the tube portion of the cover or (as other reviewers mention) slit the tube portion to slip it over your cable then use a cable tie or tape on the vinyl tube. In my case I have eyelet type battery connectors with a 3/8″ bolt that screws into the battery terminal. The eyelet connector slips easily through the vinyl tube so the installation of the cover was trivial. The cover body is oversize for the eyelet type terminal but who cares?

Too small to fit over the battery terminals, the negative is the worst.

  8. Rust Never Sleeps

These battery terminal covers are just right for all sizes of top-post batteries.
A slit with a razor blade will allow the covers to be installed over odd-shaped terminals — and a tie-wrap (not included) holds each cover in place.

  9. Rust Never Sleeps

If you modify them, these covers fit quite well over the battery terminals, keeping the posts clean and reducing the chance of an accidental anode/cathode connection. I have seen ratchets, wrenches and other metal items laid on top of the battery causing significant electrical discharge. I installed these on my son’s vehicle batteries by cutting a slice through the bottom of the rounded tubular end with a pair of scissors to fit over the cable. I also drilled small holes in the tubular sides and put a black plastic cable tie through to secure each cover to the battery cable. They are a soft rubber so the cutting and piercing was trivial. I wish the company would offer a design that didn’t require the modification to make them fit and stay on (hence the four stars). I like them because they are of adequate size for fitting the post/cable connection, they are flexible and they do the job.

I used these to cover the battery terminals of my Miata battery in the trunk
