I bought this about four months ago as a replacement filter for the one that came with a Neuspeed P-Flo aftermarket intake system for my 2007 VW GTI. This filter, unlike the one I had on it prior, is a DryFlow filter and has no oil that is known to cause problems with cars that run a MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor). The old filter had to be cleaned and re-oiled but if you used too much oil, you risk ruining your MAF sensor. I bought this for peace of mind when cleaning it, but also it seemed to tone down the excessive “harshness” of the intake harmonics that could be heard in the cabin when you went wide open throttle. Instead, all you’re left with is the sweet sound of rushing air through your intake. 🙂
All in all, I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an easy to service air filter that should last a very long time.

I bought this to replace the stock “oiled” filter that came on my Neuspeed P-Flo intake installed on my 2007 Volkswagen GTI. This AEM DryFlow Air Filter was a perfect fit and replacement for my old filter. The AEM is much quieter than my previous stock Nuespeed filter. I have not noticed any difference in performance from this filter over the old Nuespeed stock “oiled” filter.
In the box came the filter, a metal band to help secure the filter onto the intake pipe, and some AEM stickers. Here are the additional product specifications which are not listed on Amazon.

I replaced my filthy generic cone filter with this AEM DryFlow unit and my gas mileage went up by 2mpg as of the last tank. Obviously, this had more to due with the fact that my filter needed changing rather than a direct result of the product, but seriously… Change your intake filter folks. As for why I specifically picked this one: I’ve bought cheap cone filters before and they seem flimsy. The AEM filter really has a quality feel to it and doesn’t seem like it’ll fall apart or dent quite like the $15 one’s do. Inside they even include a small velocity stack to smooth out and speed up the flow of charge air. I’d say I’d buy another one, but frankly, this one is reusable and because it’s so well built, I have no doubt I’ll easily be able to clean it and move on with life. I’d say it’s definitely on par with K&N and worth the money. Great product.

great filter i bought for my 2007 audi a3 2.0t FSI, it is in fact made by K&N though in case anyone is not sure. i ordered it to replace my oiled K&N that came with my neuspeed p flow intake kit as it seen better days and i was told the dry filter is better for cars with MAF so i figured it was a good time to swap it out. it was a perfect fit for 2.75 piping! shipping was fast and price was right!

I purchased this filter as a replacement for the original AEM filter that came with my intake. It works just fine.

So, this is pretty basic. It’s an air filter. It has specific dimensions. The listed dimensions are accurate, and thus it fit as it should. It also doesn’t use any oil, as is stated. I guess the only thing to really get excited about is that unlike all the Chinese knock-offs that flood eBay, this one actually doesn’t fall apart after being removed from the package. I’ve had it on for a few months now, and it’s still effective as an air filter, which is more than I can say for filters I found for dirt cheap on eBay.

The product fit as it should. The product I got was a white cone filter instead of the pictured red. It came with a letter explaining that AEM had made gray and white filters instead of red. Whether it’s real or not, I’m not sure. However, I purchased it to replace my old filter and get through emissions testing which it did it’s job.

I changed to this AEM dry, washable filter when I moved into my condo as I now had no proper way to clean the original oiled filter.
The AEM fits directly and perfectly and is now easily washed in the kitchen sink.
I just bought a second one so that I don’t have to wait for one to dry, just as I did with the oiled filters.
Couldn’t be happier. Thanks AEM.

I’ve had a Neuspeed P-Flo intake on my 2007 VW GTI for ~2 years. One of my biggest complaints with the included (oiled) K&N filter has been the harsh rake sound near the top of the torque curve in lower gears. Cleaning the filter has also been quite a tedious project… spray with cleaner, let soak in, knock off the bits and pieces, rinse, repeat, dry completely, and spray oil. Don’t forget to cross your fingers that you didn’t over-oil the filter and contaminate the MAF sensor!
I came home to find the AEM DryFlow waiting for me. As soon as the engine bay fell to a reasonable temperature, I ripped out the now grey K&N oiled filter, and popped open the AEM box. What I found was not the dark grey dry filter in the picture, but a bright red dry filter, reminiscent of when I first received my Neuspeed P-Flo. Popped it onto the end of the pipe, with a very snug fit and we were ready.
What a difference in sound. Gone is the harsh rake sound I grew to hate, and it even quieted the intake down a bit. Drove it around the block a few times, and the old GTI had a pep in its step. I don’t know whether the K&N filter was on its last leg (it would have been time to clean again), or the fact that the engine oil was changed the day before… or maybe a great placebo effect. Either way, I’m very happy with this filter and this purchase. I’ll revise this review and rating in the near future as I add miles and miles to the car.
