My Astro van will not start (crank and start and immediately stop)I had a bad key cylinder and I replaced it with low quality after market which caused the problem.
The GM passlock system will not let the van start , So I had to buy a key cylinder that match the OEM
And it worked from first time.

This worked good for me. It needs to be programmed. You don’t need a scan tool to do this. The programming takes 30 minutes & you need to leave the ignition in the on position. Hook up a battery charger or you will have a dead battery. Programming went thru with no issues,

Perfect fit on my 2008 Trailblazer. The only glitch I ran into was getting the key to go into the “Lock” position so the key could be pulled out. After much exasperation, I did an online video search for “Key won’t come out of the ignition” and found the problem. When you unhook the batery cable to change the lock, a small solenoid on the botom side of the switch dops down, keeping the key in place. Look under the switch mechanism and you will see a small silver tube about 1/4″ in diameter and 1/2″ long. I had been trying to turn and remove the key with the battery disconnected. Once you re-connect the battery, it should jump back up into place and the key will go into the lock position and can be removed. If it doesn’t reset by itself, push it up with your finger to reset it. if it becomes a problem later and becomes worn out, you can use a pencil eraser end to push it up manually through the hole in the lower plastic cowling without having to remove the covers on the steering column. Hopefully this will get you out of a jamb when your key won’t go into the lock position so you can remove the key.

Tried to cheap out at autozone with off brand ignition cylinder because it was the only one in stock at the time. Made car think key was still in ignition even if it wasn’t. You know what that means. Car was chiming any time door was opened. Battery drain. I returned the off brand and got this one (which was cheaper surprisingly) and no chiming. Car works fine. Perfect even. Go with OEM to avoid these issues

I bought this for my 2005 chevy trailblazer 4W Drive. Some time has passed with zero issues. I watched a few youtube videos too help install correctly. Putting it in was easy. Getting the old one out was a little challenging. You might need to turn the steering wheel here and there to get the key to rotate. I lightly tapped the key with a small hammer to jiggle it to get the key to rotate while holding the steering wheel turned.
Only down side is the old key has to be used to unlock the car doors unless you just use the key FoB. Another upgrade can easily fix this too. I just use the 2 different keys though.
